Light an Dark
GunnersMate17 April 2018
Exceptionally frustrating episode. One one side we have the story of an attempted fuel-retrieval mission. Included in the actual mission is the lightness and silly comedy driven by the interplay of Don, Judy, and a number of ancillary characters. Plenty of reasons to smile even within the drama of the mission. Very enjoyable (and welcomed with all of the bad news the colonists have faced). On the other side we have the dark manipulations of Dr. Smith (no spoiler here, she has been lying and conniving since the first moment we saw her on screen). This episode it was too much and too dark, Why doesn't anyone see through her haze of lies? Why does everyone accept the ludicrous things she says without question? Why doesn't anyone implement the most basic practical safety considerations with respect to the Robot? Watching Smith manipulate the mentally unstable and small children is worse than unpleasant and drags the science fiction story into that dark. (It is the viewer who is being manipulated most of all here.) Perhaps it is supposed to make her (hopefully) eventual comeuppance more satisfying? The cost of the weak (and the intrepid viewer's time indulging her by watching) may be too high a price to pay - only time (and the remaining season episodes) will tell

...not to end on the dark side, the heart-crushing actions of Will are beautiful and mature beyond his young years. He is the light of the series...

At least the acting isnt terrible
tourach-9576926 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
How do trees grow so tall and thick and only have one ring of aging cycle? Ialso dont understand how scientists that are supposedly so intelligent wouldnt want to tell the leaders of the expedition that the planet is dying when they are planning on settling down (before they went to look for the fuel). Smiths character i know is supposed to be unlikable but she is also very annoying. It feels like they try to throw in these plot twists when they really arent necessary. It makes no sense that Vijay would keep one of the biggest secrets of all time because he was embarrassed of a poem he wrote. To impress a girl he never even met before??? At least Don found that picture. "badass princess" might be the best piece of writing in this episode. The robot broke apart like it was a mr potato head figure. Based on how resilient its been so far doesnt make sense either.

I'm enjoying this show so far...

Warning: Spoilers
...but in this episode, I just want to know what Naoko said to Dom! Anyone out there who can translate the Japanese? "Naoko: {SPEAKS IN JAPANESE}" is such a bogus caption. We've seen her speaking English; obviously she's trash-talking Dom somehow.

Maxwell Jenkins shines throughout this episode
Feffe199016 April 2018
I was quite surprised when I saw Lost in Space pop up on Netflix, so I instantly sat down to watch and episode or two. And Netflix being Netflix, I ended up binge watching more then just a couple episodes.

I've not completed the first season yet, but every episode I've seen so far are absolutely amazing. I've loved every moment of the show so far!

When it comes to the actors, they are all doing a great job! But one that really sticks out of the crowd is Maxwell Jenkins (Will Robinson). His acting is superb, and he is doing an amazing job! I had never heard of this actor before, but I am quite sure we're gonna see more of this amazing talent in the future! He really nails all the emotional scenes, to which I myself felt a lump in my throat and a bit tearing up in some of the more emotional scenes of the episode.

Great job, Netflix! You've done it again!

Exposed! So, can we stop calling her Dr. Smith?!
rsvp32116 April 2018
She's not a doctor, she's not Smith.

The audience knew it in the first episode, now the general population knows.

Please, enough with the "Dr. Smith"!

First Kiss Scene & Do We Tell?

Warning: Spoilers
Knowing what she overheard Penny plans a romantic hike that doesn't go as planned. Anglea is sickened that the Robot that killed her husband is part of the team. She finds a gun with a little help from Dr Smith still up to her manipulation. Robot gives Will a high-5 while Don and Judy with others retrieve rocket fuel from desert. Emotional episode for several reasons. Enjoy.

Lost In Space -"Eulogy" S1 E6

8 -stars. All of my reviews begin with an 8 -star rating.

From 17:12 -That talk between Maureen and "Doctor Smith" was especially creepy this episode, right?

The robot offers Will a multi -coloured crystal. All my dogs ever offer me are bright eyes and wagging tails. Oh. And stools.

Being able to connect emotionally with character(s)? Yes/No

9 -stars.

Has the show gone over the cliff ?
southdavid13 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This was probably the worst episode of the series so far, certainly the one I was most distracted when watching. Ironically, it does have a game changing revelation at the start and an end that presumably will have to be undone in the remaining four episodes, or else the show really isn't "Lost In Space" anymore.

Anyway, the episode opens with Maureen telling John what her revelation from the last episode was. There is a black hole in the solar system that is going to destroy all life on the planet within the next few weeks. She and John then struggle to decide whether to share this information with the rest of the group. The group have two other items on their agenda though, what to do about the Robot and whether they should head for the ship that Don crashed in, to salvage the fuel and get off the planet. Meanwhile "Dr Smith" continues to probe various members of the group looking for weaknesses to exploit, for whatever end she ultimately has.

Despite peaks at either end a great lull in the middle dragged this episode down for me. The debate over the fate of the robot felt pointless, as there's nothing they could do to it, regardless of what they decided. Only Will is able to assert any influence over it, as we saw at the end - whilst we're discussing it, sad as though it was, couldn't he just have returned the robot to the cave - as per the plan for last week. The fuel mission also left me cold, maybe that it was mostly made up of characters that haven't really been introduced yet, or I don't like - like the ineffectual leader Victor. Judy seemed to be going on the trip for no particular reason, given that she's the most effective doctor they have it would have made more sense for her to stay with the larger group and I really don't want to see her relationship with Don go any further than friends.

Again, there's another large questionable science part to this. If the black hole has previously destroyed all life on the planet, so much so that the trees are only one year old, how come it's managed to evolve enough that there are complex life forms like the bear/bore/tiger things from last week's episode. (Even accounting for a much longer "year" than Earth's, we're still talking thousands of years of evolution to get to that point). Also, and I know this is pedantic, but in my defence the show made a big deal out of it, the rocks where Don's ship crashed were supposed to be razor sharp and they needed to swap boots to cross it. . . yet in this episode he crawls over the cliff edge with no cuts or grazes, or even damaged to his clothes.

The series is starting to feel like a show without a controlling voice ironing out the story kinks and more like a bunch of different writers working to their own visions. I'm persevering, but I'd like an improvement soon.

painfully dumb
Rob-O-Cop19 April 2018
I don't think I can make it through this series. I've been trying to make it easier by watching in the background while doing something else but it's stupidity and sheer annoyingness pushes through. The Van Halen joy ride. OMG, how could any writer put that in to a show set in the future. It broke any semblance of credibility in such a dumb American jock way. The waterfall date, I threw up a little in the back of my throat over this. just plain terrible. The Doctor Smith carry on. Really, do you think this is entertaining and fun to watch? Every character is a reflection of the worst aspects of modern day A-holes so instead of being an entertaining and thought provoking show on the wonders of space travel we get a show that dwells in the ugliness of modern 1st world American families and individuals, and it's a really ugly watch. yeah, nah, I'm out.

Just dumb writing
orlox11 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
While the show started promising episode after episode things starting to get silly. Dr. Smith is doing random conspiracy moves and.... well... by a magic hand all is going as planned even though the probable outcome should be much different. Everyone else seems plain stupid. Lets change the scene magically where angry crippled, lady dad and robot are in line so we can prepare for the next scene where dad gets hurt. Let me put myself between an angry 500kg robot and its target. What could go wrong. Hey robot is protecting itself and the family. I should command it to its death. And what is that black hole physics? I do not expect real physics but writers should consider hiring an astrophysicist instead coming up with this crap.

It's fiction alright...
nemesis-887 February 2022
When you're writing or filming science fiction you have to remember to sprinkle just a wee bit of science onto the thick layer of fiction. The planet is about to be sucked into a black hole but no mention of event horizon. Some kind of bossy housewife aka Big Scientist is "weighing" whether to tell her group about her findings AND is somehow the only one who noticed all the physics events around her. Oh, and Parkey Posey is still a talentless hack. Without her it'd be a damn good show.

The black hole thing spoiled it a little for me
lcsmith8517 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I think the black hole about to destroy the planet plot point is bogus. It's obvious that the planet has been there for a long time and would have been destroyed long ago. It's clearly in a stable orbit. I wish they had come up with something more realistic.

Probably the most annoying episode
macbeta116 April 2018
While I get where they are trying to go, the nature of the way the writers went about it (without spoiling) seems clumsy and very ham-fisted.
