- TriviaAt the food fair Drew suggests to the cop that some folks dip beignets in gumbo, which amuses Sabine. Given that beignet in gumbo is as bad as cinnamon bun in beef stew, maybe Drew was just messing with the cop.
- GoofsAt the end of the scene where Hook and Weaver investigate the bakery you can see someone in the background, holding a flashlight, walk behind Weaver. Since he was looking att Hook at the time and Hook wasn't moving it is not a reflection of him. It must be someone from the crew since it isn't addressed in the episode.

Henry Mills: [voice-over] Every story comes to an end. But who gets to decide when that is? Or whose story it really is, anyway? I came to Hyperion Heights to unravel a mystery. What drove a powerful real-estate developer to try to buy up an entire neighborhood? What deals did she have to make? And what other secrets was she keeping? These questions continue to haunt this neighborhood, even after her untimely and tragic death. I've tried to answer these questions myself. But every stone I uncover just leads to another stone. And then there's the most important question of all: what could possibly happen next? I invite you to join me to find out. Welcome to H-town.

The worst 'Once Upon a Time' episode since Season 7's first episode "Hyperion Heights", "A Taste of the Heights" was one of the episodes of the season closest to leaving a bitter aftertaste in the mouth. It is one of the season's worst episodes and one of the lesser 'Once Upon a Time' ones in general. Everything that made the worst of Season 7, and the season in general, an inferior one, is here in "A Taste of the Heights". It is episodes like this that are examples of how the show declined.
Visually, "A Taste of the Heights" looks good being beautifully and atmospherically photographed and designed. The music fits well and is well placed, doesn't sound cheap either. There are intriguing moments in the fairytale flashbacks parts, Tiana showing as much promise as she did in "Greenbacks" and this was at a point where Facilier was not annoying and his motivations not vague.
Didn't think any of the character relationships were nailed, but there were brief glimpses such as Roni and Kelly talking about Dr Facilier. Minor glimpses of decent dialogue included an on the nose line regarding hipsters courtesy of Sabine, the only time she made much impression though in the episode. Mekia Cox comes off best of the generally not bad standard of the acting in the fairytale flashbacks scenes.
Such a shame though that pretty much everything in the present day/Heights scenes is an over-stuffed and convoluted mess delivered in a perfunctory way. "A Taste of the Heights" tries to do far too much, or crams too much in, and too much of it doesn't make sense from rushing through it and under-exploring it. There is very little to none in the present days parts of the sporadic intrigue that the flashbacks/Tiana's backstory had and the lack of chemistry between the characters (a few brief glimpses aside) really hurt it.
None of the character relationships grabbed me, with Henry and Jacinda's non-existent one faring worst. Even Regina with Dr Facilier was not that attention-grabbing and saw a sad dumbing down of one of the show's best characters. It was always a major misjudgement when the show sidelined interesting, well developed characters (Weaver's role is wasted in a tired subplot that doesn't go very far) and focused too much on dull and annoying ones like Jacinda. The acting in the flashbacks wasn't bad, strong in the case of Cox, but it was nothing special in the present day ones that dominated more (Robert Carlyle being the best of the bunch).
In summation, disappointing and one of Season 7's worst. 4/10
