I honestly feel that this episode, which is full of strong and conflicted feelings and emotions, was brilliantly adapted from the original manga.
When I've read the manga chapter by original author Masashi Kishimoto about 2 years ago, it didn't make me feel the whole range of emotions that this episode, adapted from original source material by screenwriter Kôjirô Nakamura, make me feel. Well, 2 years ago I didn't knew the outcome of this whole situation so that adds to the mainly anger I felt back then. Recognizing that, I still feel that this episode successfully tried to add more depth and sense to this issue.
I'm very excited to see the progress of this arc and looking forward to the next one with renewed hope.
