Can't wait for the next season/part to come out

This season was marvelous. I see some people confusing Disenchantment with Matt Groening's Simpsons-Futurama-ish show and leaving bad review. I suggest you watch Matt's latest interview with Seth Meyers where he alluded the difference. I just wish we'd got more than 10 episodes.

Bean's finale
anselmdaniel23 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This review contains spoilers.

Disenchantment's tenth episode in the second part of the first season is entitled "Tiabeanie Falls". The episode takes place immediately after the ending of the ninth episode entitled "The Electric Princess". Zog is in a critical state and Tiabeanie attempts to stay one step ahead of the Odval and the Druidess.

The tenth episode is a decent finale to the first season. Nothing gets resolved with the second part of Disenchantment. The finale serves to tie up Tiabeanie's story as she returned to Dreamland. The finale did serve as a good step for Odval and the Druidess' characters as they plot to take over Dreamland. In addition there were many great scenes that involved the young prince Derek.

The finale of Luci, Elfo, and Bean being burned at the stake became an interesting way for the entire story to link up together. Even Bean's mother, Dagmar, returns for one last quip before the cliffhanger. The finale story felt much like a finale episode or movie of Futurama. These are good developments as Disenchantment has more of a story arc than Futurama did.

I would recommend the finale to the second part entitled "Tiabeanie Falls".

Grade: B

Disenchantment Season One Part Two

Disenchantment's second part to the first season starts off incredibly well. The season starts off with Tiabeanie being with Dagmar as she is involved in the prophecy. The series felt fresh with a new setting, characters, and the return of Elfo. I enjoyed how the series felt different at the beginning.

The series returns to Dreamland and everything that was present in the first part of the first season returns. Zog returns with Derek and the season meanders. I enjoyed the return as the characters that were turned to stone at the end of the first season made a comeback. However the season felt incredibly meandering around. This pointlessness to the plot never went away as the season introduced Tiabeanie being the center of a prophecy. However the story never came back to this prophecy story.

The introduction of the Steamland was a welcome twist. However this introduction still requires more of an explanation as the introduction of Steamland made for a confusing finale. Odval and the Druidess could not have predicted that Steamland would try to assassinate Zog. There was also nothing hinting at this.

I would recommend Disenchantment Season One Part Two. Disenchantment's second season is watchable and can be entertaining at times. However the season can feel meandering.

Groening & Co. have done it again!
harmisjack22 September 2019
I enjoyed part 1 of Disenchantment, even though it didn't kick off until ep. 5 in my opinion.

This next half steps up an big time, and instantly becomes a captivating, humorous, emotional journey beyond epic proportions! What's stored in the future for Dreamland, Bean & co? Who knows until next season... if ONLY we knew when?

10/10 episode,

8.5/10 season 1

Mild
moniqas-l20 September 2019
Just finished watching season 2. WTF? You gave us serious family drama with very few moments to smile, not to mention to laugh. There is no culmination, everything is mild in taste and dialogues have tendencies to be too monotonous. You don't use music to strengthen action and you introduced only one new location! I don't know what was idea for it, but it feels that someone wanted to make serious piece and forgot that season 1 was a comedy!

Season 2 is mistake. Don't repeat in season 3.

Season Two Review
southdavid7 November 2019
I wrote a review of "Disenchantment" when the first season/first half of the first season/whatever was on Netflix and unfortunately, for my money, this second run is even worse than the former one.

With Dreamland turned to stone and her mother resurrected instead of Elfo (Nat Faxon), Bean (Abbi Jacobson) is transported away to her Mother's Kingdom, but she soon discovers that Queen Dagmar (Sharon Horgon) is not all she seems.

I'm constantly staggered that with all the talent and experience in animation that these people have, they've created a show as awkward, as "Disenchantment" and awkward is the only word I can think to describe it as. It's not just 'not funny' . . . that would be enough, but the line reads that they use, and the pauses, and the lack of background noise all gives the show the atmosphere of an amateur comedy night that's not going very well. Maybe it's the casting of comedians and actors, rather than genuine vocal artists to a number of the key roles that has something to do with this, maybe it's the editing, I'm not sure.

I can see that there's a lot of thought and effort gone into it, there are a lot of background sight gags, for example, and the animation is well done. There is a lot of story there, a lot of ideas maybe, but not one that comes together as a genuinely coherent narrative at any point, despite the ongoing story elements.

I was desperate to see if the show could improve after that disappointing debut and I love a number of the people involved with "Disenchantment" but, with a heavy heart, it's not bad "relative to the Simpsons or Futurama", it's just bad and I'm not willing to give it any more chances.

Didn't laugh once. And this was the 'season finale' too

This ain't no Futurama, that's for sure. Didn't laugh once in this entire episode. I'm really disappointed in this series, and honestly won't be watching the next season... it's just not funny
