DI Mooney has to investigate when the leader of an exclusive spiritual retreat is murdered, logically one of the guests as the resort must be the killer. Meanwhile JP uses a self help book to gather evidence, Dwayne remains unconvinced.
I hate to say I thought this episode was poor, I've been complimentary of every episode in this season, but this one was lacking in that quality. The writing was a bit lazy, a theme that has been recycled and done to death, last week's was so original and fresh, this one felt tired. Why on Earth cast an actor like Richard Harrington, and give him no screen time? The same can be said for Sam Hoare and Katy Wix, none of the guest cast seemed to get any on screen time, it's baffling.
I didn't like the episode, but I thought Ardal was excellent, he's now settled so comfortably in the role, he's charismatic and amusing, he bounced very well off Don Warrington, Commissioner Patterson remains aloof. I thought Dwayne was shocking in this episode, it seemed a bit like he was sending the show up, it was a poor performance, I know the character is meant to be laid back, but come on, he was a clown the whole way through, that stupidity had also seeped into JP's character, how long before they're doing silly walks, we already have silly hats. Thank goodness for Florence, she was great.
A duff.
