Another fun video by Rick Astley
1980's man, it'll kill you with overloads of amazing great stuff from the musical scenery (movies too!). This one by Rick Astley is somewhat similar
to the great one made for "Never Gonna Give You Up", both the song and its rhtyhms and some portions of the video itself where Astley and a group of dancers have
some musical moments. Major difference comes that he's given a romantic partner of whom he tries to convince for a date. The video never explains it but it
seems that there's some schedule problem or some miscommunication as they take some time to set up a date for this meeting, as they cheerfully exchange
phone calls (gotta miss those days without the internet being the middleman and you needed to try your luck by calling your potential other half instead of
social media exchanges).
It's pop, charming, colorful, fun and cute to watch along with the amazing pop hit from that glourious decade. And this comes from a time that despite the visual being a dominant thing, specially for pop/rock videos, it didn't necesarily meant to over-indulge with excess of exposure or go deeply into selling sex. You know it's there, but you don't need the image as it became the goal for many other artists, some successful and others not so much. And it's one of those iconic songs of the period either you like it or not. But seeing that 20-something cutie with that deep voice is one of those things my mind cannot process exactly, visual and sound don't match in the ways we imagine but it's all Astley. Kudos to him again. 8/10
P. S.: pay attention to the video and find out why this review is not an accident when it comes to dates.
