The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) tonight announced the winners of the 46th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards at a grand gala held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, Southern California.
“The National Academy is pleased to be honoring the men and women who make Daytime television one of the staples of the entertainment industry,” said Terry O’Reilly, Chairman, NATAS. In addition to those honored tonight with the prestigious Emmy Award, we are especially pleased to be highlighting the careers of two of our television icons, ‘Judge Judy’ Sheindlin and Chef Jacques Pepin with our Lifetime Achievement Award. With our tributes to the wonderful career of Kathie Lee Gifford and the remarkable 50-year achievement of ‘Sesame Street,’ it’s a wonderful evening to celebrate Daytime television.”

Code blue: “General Hospital” was the evening’s big winner at the Daytime Emmy Awards, with five awards, followed by “The Young and the Restless,” with three, and culinary series “Valerie’s Home Cooking” with two. Syndicated series led the night with seven wins overall, followed by ABC and CBS with five each.
“CBS Sunday Morning” won for best morning program, beating “Good Morning America” (which had previously won two in a row), while “Ellen DeGeneres” once again grabbed the talk show entertainment category over last year’s winner, “The Talk.”
Perhaps the most emotional win of the night, however: “Jeopardy” host Alex Trebek, who recently revealed his battle with pancreatic cancer, won for outstanding game show host.
“The Young and the Restless” won for outstanding drama, but “General Hospital” cleaned up in the acting categories, including lead actor, both supporting categories, and lead young actress. “Young and the Restless...

CBS Television Distribution has set a fall launch for a syndicated talk show hosted by actress Vivica A. Fox.
“Face the Truth” is described a conflict-resolution yakker in which guests reveal their problems to a panel of experts in related subjects who aim to provide constructive feedback. The studio audience will then get the chance to weigh in and vote on who’s at fault in the situation.
The show hails from producer Jay McGraw’s Stage 29 Productions, home of the syndie series “The Doctors” and “DailyMailTV.” McGraw, Carla Pennington, Patricia Ciano, and Phil McGraw are executive producers.
The series will air on 10 CBS-owned stations, including the Eye’s outlets in New York and Los Angeles. Stations owned by Cox, Hearst, Weigel and Meredith are also on board.
“ ‘Face the Truth’ is a fresh addition to the television landscape,” said Jay McGraw, who is president of Stage 29. “We have...
