A Well Crafted Indie Thriller
baccaruda18 May 2022
Writer/Director/Composer Gustavo Letelier showcased his considerable skills with this film. During the movies first moments, I commented to my wife that the cinematography was excellent, and that excellence continued throughout. The film is creatively told in flashback form, which along with its subtitles, made it necessary to pay close attention in order to understand the goings on. "Pelicano" is a melodrama in its purest form, with an unexpected monster of a character. The acting is very good overall, and once I was drawn into the narrative, I was transfixed. Mr. Letelier shows a deft touch as a filmmaker, and was able to incorporate some artistic cinematic elements that felt just right. If you're looking for laughs, this isn't the film for you. But if heavy/lurid drama makes you a happy viewer, you'll be elated with this one. "Pelicano" one of the better indie films I've seen.

Well Executed Tragedy

Great performances from the cast and dramatic direction from Letelier. Cinematography gets the scenes and drama across but doesn't excel at building tone. Well executed especially considering budgetary restraints!

Dark melodrama

This is a heavy artistic drama that develops slowly through a series of flashbacks. The story follows a selfish mother who's choices tend to destroy those around her. It's a character driven drama that relies on a crafty script, great cinematography and a silky piano score. If this sounds like your cup of tea, give it a go.

This movie has an amazing cast and crew. Stunning cinematography. I love the way they did the flashback scenes. The story pulls you in right from the start and holds you in from start to finish.
