Episode dependant
gogg-0507523 January 2022
Some episodes are terrible but others are actually quite good. Unlike some hosts he has no trouble listening to his guests even if they push a differing opinion.

I believe if this was on a different RV network it would be a lot more risque and controversial.

Neo Tyrannical PC Feminist Claptrap Dipped In Back Of The Cupboard Marxism...
LouieInLove27 May 2019
Neo tyrannical PC feminist claptrap dipped in back of the cupboard Marxism, masquerading as humour. The irony is that so many of the female guests are hot babes; yummy-yum-yum!

As for Frankie Hoyle, he, is the PC-bully maestro that conducts his jiggling pseudo-intellectual elitist (usually smoking hot) clitterati guests as they harp about social media driven issues that they perceive to have afflicted hardship upon middle class ladies & immigrants - because the two are exclusive?

I look forward to season 4

P.S. A fun drinking game is to take a swig every time Katherine (stunner) Ryan or one of the other guests says the word 'privilege'.

Frankie doing what he does best
asteria-896-1226257 June 2018
It's great to see Frankie back to his old self and on the BBC, I've missed his cutting wit. Nobody can cut public figures down to size like him.

He takes pops at both sides of the political aisle and I'm glad he's brought back Sara Pascoe and Katherine Ryan. They all seem to have a good rapport and genuinely find each other funny so it has a relaxed feeling, rather than giving the impression they are all taking it in turns to talk, then rinse and repeat. I don't think it would work as well if they had an ever-rotating panel like some of the other shows.

I wish it would get a longer run. Five shows is too short, you're just getting into the swing of it and it's over.

Is It Really a leftie show?
anthonymotture4 June 2018
I have noticed a few comments on here stating that this is leftie drivel. Wrong! They do however talk about current affairs and look at them from a moral standpoint (It seems that when people talk about human rights abuses this is how they are labelled). Hence the reason they were attacking labour about the anti-Semitism in the party.

I bask in the hatred of these right wing morons... as always!
kenfield-8595221 December 2021
The reviews I've seen so far are like " OOO Frankie you used to be soo edgy and true back in the day" without realising the massive left wing bias he always had ffs? I'm sorry but did you really think the edgy comedian from Glasgow was conservative fml.

Yes general cultural standards change but being offensive isn't inherently funny obviously! So you guys are showing yourselves up to be complete melts who laugh at attack helicopter jokes.

There are some awkward moments on the show but personally i think its amazing relative to all other political content on tv (Honestly guys just move to the internet already).

If there's anything I would suggest it would be to stop bringing a guest on for one segment its very jarring and exemplifies the awkwardness.

Intelligent satire
iftinajib2 January 2022
You can tell Frankie Boyle used to be an English teacher. His use of metaphors and lengthy, evocative and vivid sentences to summarise life and politics is quite genius at times and depressingly accurate at others. I also find the right wing reaction to his new material just as hilarious. They're so upset that he doesn't do obvious jokes about Harvey Price or Mel Gibson anymore. How dare he evolve and explore other topics, instead of being the non PC lads comedian they wish he still was.

Frankie, what happened?
stebsmeister30 June 2019
Your opening and closing monologues are arguably the only funny part of the show, and even they're like a ghost of what you used to come out with.

Giving female comics such a high-profile platform is laudable, but the ones you've had on have largely been awful.

The show is nowhere near as dangerous as it obviously sees itself as being, the topics discussed and the arguments made both trite and lazy.

There IS an appetite for a funny, genuinely transgressive political comedy show but this isn't it - but, gallingly, once upon a time, you'd have made it.

Laugh free comedy
ninja718 September 2020
The show is very laboured. The guests are all of the same mindset, all trying to outdo each other on how 'progressive' and 'woke' they are, how evil Capitalism and white people are etc. They laugh at each other and nod enthusiastically at what each other says no matter how bizarre and unfunny it is which makes it contrived. You will struggle to find any humour, any insight, any intelligence, and it falls flat on its feet.

Terrible show - don't bother.
chokeholdjim19 May 2018
Boyles early stuff was excellent. Really funny. Sadly this stuff is awful. The jokes are too political and contrived, and the program format doesn't work. It's basically a bunch of lefties sat around talking a bit of politics (no-one disagrees) and trying to out-talk the others. Like mock the week, but worse. Saw the first episode of the second series last night - Sarah Pascoe's self loathing monalogue for being white (and how bad and embarrassed she is of that!?) was toe-curlingly cringeworthy. (Doesn't she realise she's embarrassing herself?) They had David Baddeil on to discuss the anti-semitism in the Labour Party, but he wasn't allowed to say much for some so-called gags the others tried to put in and talk over the guy. If you're more left wing than Jeremy Corbyn you'll probably find it funny. Personally I find it a sad cul-de-sac that Boyle has driven his career down and I'd streer clear.

Go home BBC, you're drunk.

Warning: Spoilers
Frankie used to be an edgy, insightful and extremely funny comedian. He was hard to watch at times, but he always gave a belly laugh as the payoff. Now, however, he's developed a virulent case off BBCitis. He's displaying every symptom: self flagellation to atone for his skin colour. A total lack of humour. An overly diverse team of "comedians" who are less about comedy and more about telling Britain how racist we are. And the feeling that he sold his soul for his own show. The BBC has become a beacon for cultural Marxism. It doesn't even attempt to hide its agenda. This in itself would be easier to deal with if the British public weren't forced to pay for it! I haven't owned a TV licence is 6 years. And I never will again. I watched this at a friend's house, and I was horrified at the blatant anti-white racism on display, as was she. And here's the kicker - neither my friend or I are white. I'm half Senegalese, she's Sudanese. Britain has been good to us both. I've never encountered the Britain that the people on this show bang on about, and, tbh, I seriously doubt that they have, either. But then, if you look for a problem hard enough, you'll invariably find it. Or, when you're a hammer everything looks like a nail. P.S. One good thing came out of this dreadful excuse for a comedy show - my friend cancelled her TV licence. I hope more and more people do the same.

Awful. Truly awful.
glamourousgownsuk27 May 2018
This appeared on youtube, after I had been watching some other clip. At first I thought it was a mickey take of left-wing panel shows. It eventually dawned on me that all this material was being presented in earnest.

Good God, if you want to drive any moderate thinkers into the rabid arms of the far right, then keep producing this self-loathing drivel. It is terrible. Watch anything else. Even a three hour documentary on Nigel Farage. Anything will be better than this.

Dreadful
hogberto-398091 December 2022
The show is supposed to be like a group of funny friends sitting around chewing the fat, being funny, with intermittent monologues by Frankie. Instead it comes across as stilted and awkward, with obvious hesitancy between gags, no real connection or dynamic between the comics & a sense of palpable relief each time somebody picks up and runs with the gag for a minute. So it can get a bit unrelaxing to watch. Frankie can be very funny and often is here but too often he strays into the surreal, to the extent that the humour is just lost. The comics are almost always of a similar political mindset too, which makes for the dull spectacle of them nodding along & agreeing with each other.
