Different but yet the same
chelseariffkenny5 October 2018
When I started watching the 8th season (also known as collection 5 on Netflix), I was a little confused to see different hosts- as well as no Mary! But as the episode went on I felt that Prue was a very suitable replacement for Mary and I really started to love the hosts by the end. I think Noel is pretty funny and the chemistry between the two hosts is quite nice. The bakers are definitely the stars of the show and overall I enjoyed this season very much and am looking forward to seeing the 9th season. I feel I should also note, since this is a British show, I'm from the US and have watched this show on pbs and Netflix exclusively.

Dirty clothes?

I really enjoy the show, but it seems as though it's so often hot in the tent. The bakers must sweat a lot. I'm surprised they wear the same clothes both days.

Same show, with just a few tweaks

Warning: Spoilers
So here we go, after all the fuss about 'Bake Off' leaving the BBC we finally get a chance to see what Channel 4 paid the big bucks for.

And to be honest, it all looks reassuringly like it did over on the Beeb. Paul Hollywood is the same as ever, Pru is a decent replacement for Mary, and Sandi is a decent replacement for Mel and Sue. We've lost the annoying 'history of...' segments, and gained some annoying adverts.

The real stars of the show of course (and quite rightly) are the bakers themselves, and we've the normal mix of eccentrics, try hard's, and the token baking granny.

All in all with the exception of Noel Fielding (of whom I'm a bit undecided about) it all seems like business as usual.

The Day It Moved To Channel 4 Was The Day It Officaily Ruined!!

Reasons why the show is now a load of rubbish: 1. It's not on the BBC so you get loads of annoying ads 2. Noel Feilding is not even funny 3. It's not the Bake Off without Mel & Sue and of course Mary Berry! 4. Just utterly ruined 5. Prue is not as nice as Mary Berry 6. Noel and Sandi are trying to be too much like Mel and Sue. When little do they realize that nobody will ever be the same as Mel and Sue. 7. The Bake Off IS NOT THE SAME! I gave it chance but shan't be watching the next series!

Missing Mary, Mel, and Sue

I love the show, but it has lost its spark without these three. If Mel and Sue had stayed when Mary retired it would still be fine. The new hosts are trying to be like they were, and don't hit the mark. The show is just missing something. A lot of the magic is gone. I hope it picks up.
