Active Measures

Warning: Spoilers
They really have no idea what to do with Saul these days. The National Security Adviser would not be in the woods meeting with random weirdos. He should have stronger connections and sources of intelligence.

Thankfully a lot of the episode was devoted to the outrageous mission between Carrie and her cohorts. These are the kinds of things Homeland was built on and even though the show now focuses on politics instead of terrorism, it still works.

Definitely enjoying this season more than the previous one

As far fetched as this plot can be (but aren't they all a bit?) I am enjoying this season more than the previous one, because the Quinn situation was too dramatic to be entertaining.

Also, from a European point of view it's easier to watch from far how quickly tricky situations can degenerate in the US, as real events prove way too often.

The Russian angle was introduced in the previous episode, with the actor who played a Russian spy in that great series The Americans and who's probably going for a rehash of his role.

Carrie's gang of thugs is entertaining, even if it's difficult to know why and with which money they're operating, since Carrie's penniless. Even if they're all in for old times sake, they still need equipment...

Dante is developing feelings for Carrie which means he's heading for a horrific end, like all his predecessors.

A Russian angle is introduced, but listening carefully seems to be a misdirection. Carrie and Dante organize an operation with an unexpected result. Keane continues her odd actions as the President. As a mid-season episode this is where the Producers have some leeway with the plot lines. Interesting as always parallel universe with some themes lifted from current events, and Clair Danes doesn't need to go into her "off the meds" hamming.

I can't quite understand something here?

Warning: Spoilers
This episode appears as though it is as well written and acted as any other in the series, and that is a key factor of what makes this such a great show! That being said...in earlier episodes of season seven they make it a real point that Carrie is in serious debt! How is it possible that she is putting a team together and they put a "Christmas list" together, as in hardwear they are going to need to pull this mission off? This doesn't make any sense to me unless the guys she recruited for the mission are not only doing this job for free(which they wouldn't) but also going out of their own pockets to pay for said Christmas list which is just crazy!

Personally for me for a show or movie to really stand on its own 2 feet certain things need absolute credibility. Am I missing something here?
