Disappointed
nubrownsoul4 May 2019
I got this for my kids aged 12, 10, 8 and 4, and it didn't strike a chord with any of them. The script was lousy and old fashioned and cgi was lame - kids are very aware of bad cgi because they watch great stuff by major studios, so when low budget stuff comes out, they don't buy it. That aside, there just wasn't enough real drama or tension to keep them interested. To be honest it may have been better if it had gone more down the fantasy route in a committed way- the faux realism in this case became the egg that just didn't hatch.

Cheap Cash-in But Has A Slight Charm
neiljones19816 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Jurassic Park had a larger influence on society than ever we expect. Since the 4th Jurassic Park film hit the cinema there's been a wave of other dinosaur themed productions with all kinds of budgets, stories and whatever else banded around since 2015. Dinosaurs are clearly back in fashion.

So we have here the story of a boy who gets given an egg which ultimately turns out to be a dinosaur egg. Boy decides to hatch the egg and the story develops from there, culminating in a basic chase to hide the dinosaur from "bad guys", including (for some reason) hiding it in a forest. Yes its a stereotypical kiddie plotline centered around a dinosaur. Not particularly unusual but not I suspect the last in a chain of cheap dinosaur films while Jurassic Park is pumping out new additions to its franchise.

Unfortunately its been proved before that cheap budgets and CGI dinosaurs do not mix. Films produced on a budget can be semi decent but all too often they're let down by lousy writing and/or lousy acting. Kyler Beck is a relative newcomer and does quite a decent little job steering this vehicle with the material he's given but one gets the impression from the way he "strokes" and "interacts" with the dinosaur that the location of the CGI was either an afterthought or they couldn't make it quite work with the budget they had... Still Beck looks like he's having fun and has been trained well, could be one to look out for in the future.

I have ploughed through a portion of the family films available on Amazon Prime and seen a whole bunch of stuff far worse than this IMO. You could do far worse than Jurassic Pet. Don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed.

Dumb and irritating to watch.
Martinito_0818313 January 2020
"The Adventures of Jurassic Pet" is one of those types of movies, where you can find in a video store for a very cheap price and if you are one of those people, who already watched the movie - your immediate reaction is to hide it somewhere, so that nobody can buy it or rent it, because of how bad it truly is and you can tell what the experience would be by looking at the cover of the DVD. There's nothing else that i need to add and for that it completely deserves the rating that it's going to get from me and it's a 2.1/10.

choose better movies when babysitting
demonsquipster20 October 2019
Bear with me here, because I only watched this once while I was babysitting and I zoned out and almost fell asleep. also, I haven't watched it since. the idea is interesting, it could make a very good story if handled correctly. the problem here? it was not handled correctly. low budget does not mix with CGI, particularly CGI dinosaurs. I also understand that yes, this is a film for children, but children growing up on movies like Jurassic Park and Jurassic World will not be impressed by the CGI here. trust me: remember how I told you I watched this while babysitting? exactly the point. the kid I was watching was much less unimpressed, but still not enthused by the story. of course, lousy writing will affect older audiences like me more than them, but it's still an important issue to hit. however, I will say that the acting from our lead actor, Kyler Beck, was surprisingly good and I expect he'll be landing roles in bigger projects as time goes on. we'll see if this goes anywhere for him, but there's definitely some potential and talent there that casting agents should (and most likely will) see and utilise to their advantage. worth the watch if you have a younger kid, just make sure they haven't seen any Jurassic Park movies first.

Storyline is lacking
horatio_yen25 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Storyline is lacking quite a bit and most of the characters are quite shallow. The chase at the end is too long and not a lot happens. Quite a few cringe worthy lines that just through you off not the worst movie ever but i can't recommend it 4/10.

Very cringe
kerrjayden22 December 2021
Worst acting and cgi I have ever seen in a movie. Extremely cringe. Things that happen make no sense baced on what happened five minutes ago in the movie. The whole movie is just pain to watch. The only reason I gave it two stars instead of one is because everyone can make fun of how bad it is together.

Fun for the little ones.

I noticed a lot of Oklahoma films have this guy Lisandro Boccacci, he's everywhere and in everything, an Oklahoma filmmaker should give him a chance as a lead, that would be awesome to see!

Short fairytale about a kid and a dinosaur.
mikebruyneel17 May 2020
I don't understand why people say it's terrible. It's not good, but its definitely not bad and it is intertaining. Show it to your kids on a rainy day. The actors do a good job in acting stupid. I felt empathetic towards the characters. All does not add but it does not have too, it's a fairytale for kids.
