- TriviaSeveral of the lines in Offred/June's opening voiceover monologue quote or closely parallel the words in chapter 2 of Margaret Atwood's 1986 novel that inspired the series, which read: "...this could be a college guest room, for the less distinguished visitors; or a room in a rooming house, of former times, for ladies in reduced circumstances. That is what we are now. The circumstances have been reduced; for those of us who still have circumstances. But a chair, sunlight, flowers: these are not to be dismissed. I am alive, I live, I breathe...."
- GoofsWhen driving from the airport to the hotel the streets are blocked for the motorcade of the commander, but during the shots out of the car several moving cars including a blue/green bus are visible in the reflections of the buildings for most of the time.
- Quotes
Mark Tuello: Gilead blames the fertility crisis on women. On their sinfulness. We see the problem often originating with the men. Some of the best scientists in America have been working on fertility for years, and they've made some progress. Think of it: a baby of your own. And freedom.
Serena Joy Waterford: I have a baby on the way.
Mark Tuello: That's not your child.
Serena Joy Waterford: You don't know what you're talking about.
Mark Tuello: I'm sorry. I meant no offense.
Serena Joy Waterford: If you had done better research, you would know that I would never betray my country.
Mark Tuello: I thought you already did.
This episode is THE BEST OF THE SEASON!! I say that each review. Have you noticed the theme of each episdoe characters saying, "My name is..." every episode this happens. What I really found disturbing but fascinating is when June apologized to Aunt Lydia because her godson had die and she said, "It wasnt my fault." That shows how these people think and the lack of feelings they dont have. Things like that make this series brilliant!
Highlight was seeing cool hand Luke confront Waterford and the hate I felt for that man as he repeated scriptures and talked down to him when we know hes a weak little man inside hiding behind his title of commander. As he tells the man towards the end, "Coward!" Waterford is the real coward as shown from the past episode. Hes the man that shepherds his wife around to make himself look good while we know what he stands for. How he beats her with a belt.
As a Male I felt the impact of that blow to Jeanine on the side of the street.
The endlight and really the true highlight was getting to see Luke talk to, "My name is Nick." And hear about June status and recieve the letters that disrupt Waterfords plans.
Knocked it out of the park. Could the fierce monster but nanny come through forJune, her name is Aunt Lydia and shes the Godmother!
