Worth seeing

Even I who was not the very biggest fan of the first Fantastic Beasts movies did enjoy this little documentary add-on we get here. Of course, with the release of the second Fantastic Beasts film these days, "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: Before Harry Potter" get a pretty nice wave of attention too and this is of course a Bluray/DVD add-on feature from the first. It runs for minimally over 15 minutes and features interviews with most of the key players from the movie. The first half is mostly about J.K. Rowling's vision and craft and how much she was involved as a writer here before the focus moves on to the cast, especially the 4 key members, even if we don't hear anything from the fat comedy guy playing Kowalski I believe. Miller, Voight and Ejogo get one or two sentences to say as well when at the very end we still find a bit about the approach to direction by David Yates, the man behind the camera and his jumping around and gesturing etc. Overall, not a particularly insightful documentary, but a good entertaining watch for a quarter of an hour. I think it is worth seeing, even if it is a bit of a shame we don't hear anything from Colin Farrell.

In case

You are not a die hard Potter fan and are satisfied by links to the main story, save your time. CGI isn't too bad but nothing fancy. Characters are flat and not interesting.
