Second season much better than first.
paul_runstedler17 September 2020
I mean you still see a lot of people in gorilla suits but whoever is responsible for this season has really tightened the stories up and enhanced the atmosphere of the show. Some of these episodes have some genuine suspense some made the hairs stand up on my neck more than once.

Good for my paranormal scare-fix for the week.

In the Top 10 of al Paranormal Shows
dannymitt12 September 2021
If you watch these shows, it is what it is. You either watch because you believe, or you watch because you're a skeptic and just enjoy a good ghost story.

I often fall into both categories. This series does right what other good shows do right... real and/or believable interviews. The dramatic scenes are always fake, but the interviewees will mean the difference between me watching 5 minutes or every episode.

a wtf tv show if i ever saw one!
makdeeling5 December 2021
If i see one more person in self described deadly danger, do exactly the wrong thing, i'll scream! A giant bigfoot is growling just feet away and they just walk into woods and look for it. Monumentally stupid behavior over & over. However the storytelling is good, but the growling bigfoot sounds over & over that the witnesses never said they heard, is over done.

Bigfoot, Dogman etc

Why in heaven's name won't all these ex vets, policemen, hunters with guns ever shoot their guns at these bigfoots, dog men, aliens,or any other monsters in the woods, and put a bullet in their asses??? I mean, if something or somebody was trying to come in on me at my cabin or camping area to harm me or my family, you bet I'm going to shoot to kill, not turn around and run or go back to bed like many of your episodes, that is unless every one of these shows are fake and scripted!!!

Very Well Done
grider_christopher6 February 2023
First off I do not understand many of the reviews written here bashing the show because it is not real, ? This is an entertaining and well produced show that makes for a fun evening of scares. Grab some popcorn and a beverage and just let your imagination go. Do not attempt to analyze this show, it's purely for entertainment. Yes the real people who claim that the events happened to them are just actors, probably Canadian. My favorite episode was Season 2 episode 7, We Were Goners. That episode brought back instant memories from my childhood playing around with my brother and nephew. Not sure why the series has two different titles, "Terror in the Woods" and "These Woods are haunted", but it is the same series. I wish they would produce some more episodes, can't get enough of the Bigfoot stuff!!

Great idea, poorly executed!
imdb-252882 October 2021
This show, like so many similar ones on the Travel Channel (Extreme Paranormal Witness; Haunted Hotels; Haunted Hospitals; My Horror Story; My Haunted House, etc.) could be so much more but I always end up very bored and get caught up puttering about the house and forgetting I was watching this at commercial breaks.

What's great: the establishing images of houses and sky, at night, full moon and clouds moving, bathed in blue.

What's not so great: too much time spent filming the boring stuff and the people talking (interviewees). Too much "bathed in blue" images. A little goes a long way. We don't need the entire reel covered in blue light.

How they could fix that: I know this is filmed in Canada so they probably don't have much money, nor access to stuff but...

1) CREATE MOOD: hire a proper set decor person and the cinematographer from Mysteries at the Museum. This would improve the show massively. Go right now buy a bunch of Halloween decor items, even cheap & set the mood!

2) More "actual footage & photos". (If shows are faked) then....

3) More footage showing the entities, demons, invisible men etc. MORE OF THIS PLEASE! We come here for the scary stuff and not to see some actors recreating looking at a wall or a hallway with nothing happening.

4) Hire better directors and editors who both KNOW how to set the mood, trim the fat (enough of the boring, nothing happening actors and interviewees) and give us what we want, what we came here for: the CREEPY stuff, the scary music, the jump scares, the evil things!

5) Get to work now. Film more of all these Travel Channel scary shows but MAKE THEM BETTER! It starts with hiring COMPETENT crew and doing the work. A good eye to WATCH your own shows before you air them and re-film removing the boring and giving us thrills.

Hope someone reads here and gets to it! 7/10 is for the idea of what this show should be. What they deliver is more a boring 3/10, sadly.

Scary, series that proves strange things live and hide in the deep dark woods!
blanbrn26 March 2020
Just started watching this "Travel Channel" series about strange beings and creatures that inhabit and live in wooded areas and it is well done and very scary! As anyone knows beauty and nature and unexplored woods seem strange and many of the spots have history and folklore. This series reenacts actual sightings and interviews real witnesses who have encountered and came face to face with "Bigfoot" and monsters and strange creatures as many have even faced ghost and demon spirits in the woods! Many of theses cases occurred at night that makes it even more spooky! And these big bad wood sightings featured are from many different U.S. states. Really fine and fabulous series each episode brings fright and fear as it proves strange things are lurking and hiding in deep dark hidden places!

This Show is the perfect "so bad it's good" TV show
SquadPoopy7 January 2021
This show is absolutely glorious. I stumbled on a marathon that was playing on Travel Channel, and what I saw was incredible. If you are looking for something incredibly dumb and hilarious to watch while drunk with friends, this is it. The show is compromised of people telling stories about how they encountered stuff in the woods. Whether it be ghosts, Bigfoot, or other monsters.

These stories are shown through absolutely amazing "dramatic reenactments", in which they range from showing cheesy 90's-esque computer effects, or even putting a guy in a monkey suit and having him yell and flail his arms around like a crazy person.

This show is really funny. I'd recommend bringing some friends over, having some drinks, and enjoying the chaos.

Yikes

I'll give an extra star strictly for the entertainment. This is the Airplane Repo/Jerry Springer of the paranormal TV world. All actors, all made up stories, don't be fooled folks!...but still lots of fun eh? Remember the story of that poor teenage girl that had the cursed green Halloween mask sucked onto her face and had to break the curse by accepting her flaws and facing her enemies? Might have been an episode in Season 2. Oh...wait, that was Goosebumps. Hard to distinguish between the two shows. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Awesome show but why did they rename it?
ashleyb-392869 November 2018
The show that aired last year as Terror in the Woods is being shown again on the Travel Channel as 'These Woods are Haunted'. Why did they re-name the show and is there a 2nd season and when will it air?

Interesting series
okc_rn3 August 2020
You have to hand it to the writers, producers and crew for this show. They do a great job of telling the story and building tension. The vignettes are well written, but offer no verifiable elements, or much in the credibility department, save the veracity of the actors talent. Although the acting is not top notch, it is passable, often using previously unknown or little known talent. Locations and settings are good, as is the technical production of the stories. Even as an ultimate skeptic, I find myself taking deep breaths, and feeling the skin crawl a bit!

Take the stories with a grain of salt however.

OBVIOUSLY REAL CASES, NARRATED BY REAL PEOPLE.
joshnoon12 June 2021
Perfect ratio of narration over re-enactment with occasional cuts to the narrator.

P. S ANOTHER SHOW COULD LEARN SOME LESSONS.... HAUNTED (NETFLIX) !!!

NOT ENTIRELY TRUE
aununaki3 January 2023
It's a great episode very scary (me being a 60% in Navajo and seeing Bigfoot many times) I can't understand how this guy thinks. Anybody that had the whole head in the viewer of your scope and being threatened with that intensity would be looking at a dead Bigfoot. Something threaten me like that that's what I would have did. Only because he was threatening me like that. Had many a peaceful encounter. They seem to even like me. When I lived in Arizona it gave me the feeling that they were protecting my house. I heard them in the morning. We even communicated in a sort of way it's a long story.

Great stories but they ruin it
cjpapp12 July 2023
The stories are incredible and chilling. Sadly, the editing with silly effects takes up most of each story and adds to the story line with their own ridiculous monsters and scenarios that the original story teller did not mention. For example, the experiencer will say their part, then you have to sit through moments of weirdness with a fake scene of someone getting lost or thinking they were kidnapped - nothing to do with what the speaker was saying, just the editors own ideas, i guess. If you're going to embellish with actors, special effects and recreations at least TRY to align with the original story because they way it's done is a disservice to the viewers and the original person who had the experience. Makes it silly.

The reason "These Woods Are Haunted" is compared with this show...
wscottcook24 June 2022
Because.the network knows it has a well-crafted niche that viewers want more of. They just need it/ want it to really break-through to be more of a "viral", "bingeworthy" smash hit for a broader appeal. I get that. They stick to their same recipe though. Witness accounts interspersed with actor portrayals, polished yet darkly atmospheric soundscapes...I honestly can't believe more than half of the eyewitness accounts are from truly honest people. Yet it doesn't seem to matter. Shows like this have the potential to merge a podcast-like forum into the documentary it already claims itself to be. That's where I think it's headed. People want compelling stories. If anyone really WANTS to tell a story; in this day and age, they're more likely to be smart enough to do it in a way that puts them at a monetary advantage. But if all these eyewitnesses are pure, kudos to the producers and directional crew for getting the guests to open up.

Might as well call this "Bigfoot in the woods"
ashleyes-4389513 October 2022
"Terror in the woods" would be a good show if it contain different segments of different events of something else rather than Bigfoot sightings. Almost all of the episodes are about Bigfoot and it could become very overwhelming and stale. This show does have the potential but it needs to get creative enough to keep the viewers engaged in the show. Because truth be told, it's been times where I would switch this off for something better to watch because I was severely bored with the content of the show. I'm not knocking off the credibility of the testimony of these people but after a while you start to doubt their stories because of how outrageous it can become.

Same old song and dance
ericdhall7725 March 2021
I really wanted this to be a unique show that focused on actual hauntings, truly creepy things, etc. instead, it's mostly stories of Bigfoot told by people who supposedly experienced these encounters. The episodes or "tales" out side Bigfoot are abandoned buildings ie. abandoned psych wards, etc. basically the same premise retold in different ways. It becomes eye rolling and uninteresting.

Do these people believe their own stories?
soconnor-671255 March 2021
This show revolves around people making ridiculous claims, and the liberties the show is able to take with the stories. The storyteller will say something very basic and the reenactment will try to make it scary or supernatural with the best CGI and actors $20 can buy. It doesn't help that in some stories the storytellers contradict themselves, or come off as inadmissible bigfoot enthusiasts. Imagine that, you went looking for bigfoot in the woods, and you saw him! But of course you have no evidence. This show is good for about 30 minutes at a time.

Don't waste your time
jsnowebeats13 October 2021
This show is so stupid, literally it feels like I'm getting dumber watching it. The stories make you feel like people are making it up off the top of their heads. First episode is literally sleep paralysis.
