Here we have the music video for the song "L.A. Love (La La)" by Fergie and YG. I don't really have any idea who the latter is, so I won't comment on him in detail, but I guess that is alright because this one here is really about nobody except Fergie, even if you see the likes of Ryan Seacrest, Taylor Momsen, Kelly Osbourne and others. Howw much talent these folks have is up to you to decide. I think they fit in nicely here from the perspective of this one pretty much lacking talent in its entirety unfortunately. But first things first: The director of these slightly over five minutes is Rich Lee, a pretty prolific music video director (but only that) who has worked with Black Eyed Peas long before this one here and also with Lana Del Rey, also very recently. This one here is from 2014, so it has its 5th anniversary this year. Since its release, it managed to score over 90 million views on Youtube and will maybe make it past 100 million until the end of 2020. I must say I did like some Black Eyed Peas songs back in the day. Of course, they don't offer strong lyrics or real depth, but they have always been good to party to because of how catchy the tunes are that you even forget about the really meaningless lyrics and that means quite something. So seeing how Taboo and Will.i.am have contributed to this one here, even if in very different positions, it could have turned out as a quality watch (and listen). But neither is true. The outcome here is really disappointing overall. I mean the tune is still mildly catchy and probably deserves more than one star out of five, but the music video is so shallow and empty despite the costumes and sets (or maybe because of them) that it is just painful to watch at times. Or as boring as it gets. Party from beginning to end and when it comes to the lyrics, you can see my statement already in the title of the review. And when it was not "La La La La La", Fergie just started rapping all kinds of locations, apparently places where her party truck would be going? I don't know. I don't care either. I always thought that Fergie was not really the most creative force behind the success of Black Eyed Peas and this one here sort of confirms it. Extremely disappointing. It's tough for me to come up with positive aspects here. I guess the camera work wasn't bad and you could see Lee is pretty experienced, but this cannot make up for everything else that sucks. Interesting idea to have real credits here, but one minute (out of 5) is definitely a bit too long and the interview with Seacrest there is not helping either. I give it a massive thumbs-down. Not recommended. Oh boy, how long it has been since BEp stopped making music together in their original formation. Seems this was also the creative death for each of the band members.
