Sajitha Anthony's best performance ever!
Kevinzo17 March 2023
An average story but good acting by most of the cast. The story is kind of dragging but I think that the Director needs us to see what really happened in the movie. Some shots were very beautiful and the locations were chosen wisely. The music management of the film was beautifully done and Mr. Vithanage's development through his career can be seen in this movie. The newest addition to the industry, Dinara Punchihewa or Tikiri in the film, is doing her best and it is a must to say that she has a long journey and a beautiful future in the industry as well. Most importantly, Sajitha Anthony's performance in the film is fabulous and it is right to say as per my view that this is his best output in his entire career. I wish everyone in this film, the best of luck!

Different

The acting is very good. The film is very different in terms of plot and pacing than most films. The character arcs and interplay are very well woven into a story that touches a lot of interesting contexts.

The scenes are set in very scenic backdrops and the cinematography is really good. The music is in line with the chanting tradition of the region and isn't overbearing on the story line.

The supporting characters are well cast. The lead Dinara Punchihewa provides an exceptional performance. Though dialogue is limited the implicit balance of power is well encapsulated in the chemistry between the two lead actors.

Timeless Masterpiece

Warning: Spoilers
The other day I watched a Sinhala movie after a long time. Gaadi - Children of the Sun by Prasanna Vithanage. One of the best movies I have ever seen.

The great idea found in this is that finding love and the unequal struggle for it has no boundaries. And that all human relations transend beyond racist, religious or anything else.

Movies like this are rare. Timeless artwork.

The story is simply the humanistic struggle of a lowcaste boy to find love from a Sinhalese girl and the politics behind it turning everyone's life upside down, power-hungry aristocratic politics, caste discrimination, the sad fate of women, the capture of Ceylon by the British in 1815 by fraudulent treaties, traditional divisions and disharmony between the Sinhalese portrait in the backdrop.

Instead of glorifying the past, it is a film that questions the tradition by showing the weakness of inhumanity.

The film ends with a boy who transcends and questions tradition for the sake of love, and the Sinhalese girl who betrayed , who looks down on his humanitarian efforts, and the caste and racial discord she experiences, is ready to give the boy love back by making question her own tradition.

The end shows that only humanitarian ties are necessary to find love irrespective to caste. Sometimes it leads to question whether the present is an extension of the past.
