Getting there
chad_alexander17 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
In this episode, the characters start to show their individual desires. Dad is on the death bed so they begin plotting what's best for them after he dies. Then the ending when he awakens is the perfect slow burn I've been looking for in a new show that I can sit down and enjoy for what it's worth, good work on HBO for picking this up.

We have a show
Faristuta8 August 2022
I'm reading that this show gets better in subsequent seasons but this episode has it all/ it's VERY funny, the drama is well played, the arrogance and narcissism of the presumptuous characters are palpable. I usually dislike 1-hour episodes but you won't feel the time passing. Good work.

No Mr. Nice Guy!
Hitchcoc10 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
As the old man lies comatose in the hospital, the gang of vultures begins to circle. The board is going to want to know what to do if he dies. Each character shows his or her true colors. There are no secrets here. We also find out that the old man has done some awful things with the finances, and there will be chickens coming home to roost. The one guy makes it clear--they could bring in a duck to run the company. The problem is anyone picked would destroy it. I agree with the guy who said the show sickened him. That means the writers and actors are doing their jobs. It will be interesting to see what transpires in the first few minutes of the third episode.

This one hits differently now

Warning: Spoilers
Having finished the series and on a second rewatch it's very clear, especially after Conner's Wedding in Season 4 is like the spiritual sequel to this, that this show had it from episode 2. It's hilarious, especially Cousin Greg's bumbling, it's witty, it's dark, it's emotional, every actor understands their characters. I absolutely think this is a show that requires and rewards your full attention. Put your phone away and pay attention to every detail and you'll enjoy one of the smartest and expertly performed shows ever to grace our screens. It's Lion in Winter and King Lear meets Arrested Development and a David Mamet play. And on first viewing I wasn't convinced until episode 6, but no... it had the lightning in the bottle from here.

Humble beginning
85122223 October 2023
Greetings from Lithuania.

First two episodes of "Succession" were strong in terms of setting up characters, place, location and situation. I enjoyed the setting but of course characters will have to be fleshed out more. What i enjoyed the most is it setting - this is a world that is very far from my in every way. The lifestyle these people are having is a luxurious one, and i'm not in it, but i will definitely going to continue watching it. I liked witting and acting the most in these few episodes.

Overall, so far so good - nothing that impresed me very much but i bet its going to get more involving.

A crisscrossed f'n minefield...
slak96u6 April 2022
This shows 2nd and 3rd seasons were so excellent, it's interesting to see when it was just merely very good. The production has always been top-notch, every facet, but early on the writing and dialog wasn't quite razor sharp yet. Some of the acting was a bit timid as well, because, I think, of the not quite perfect writing.

All those knocks aside, the bare-bones are there, what the show becomes later is in this episode, it's just not all polished yet.

More sh^^y than dark humor funny
cjonesas9 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 2: Dark sh^^y fights between the horrible members of the family, only thinking of their disgusting money and future in their father's company.

It was interesting on the psychological level, a bit unrealistic, though not for the low-gene brothers and it only shows that for some, money and power are worth selling their damn soul to the devil.

What.
KittyEmpyre6 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I don't know what i expected from a show like this but definitely not what i found when i went into this episode.

For one, no one here has any idea really what's going on, despite everyone looking for the same thing no one seems to have a plan, and everything takes three 360 turns before it settles absolutely nothing. Every one of these characters is stupid and misplaced, in a way that makes this lean way more towards a comedy show than a drama, the only half witted person in the room is in critical condition and everyone else tap dances over his hospital bed without paying attention to the man on the centre of the huddle. At points it feels like a cleverly disguised episode of Seinfeld.

I'll give it to the title that it does very accurately represent what seems to happen here. I can't give myself a clue of what's going to be next, in part since these 55 minutes challenged my patience with these people more than my interpretative skills, but also since this is my first time watching the show, so I'll try not to rush any judgment.

Contrary to what may seem, I am still interested in what the show has to offer and i wanna know how it develops, but so far nothing - outside of stupid millionaires quarrelling - has happened, and I feel dizzy.

What a waste

Warning: Spoilers
The first episode showed great potential. Episode 2 washes all that promise down a sewer hole. The dialog is horrible.

What a waste.

S#$t Show at the F@#k Factory Sums it up. All of it.
insideout09818 September 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Watching this show makes me kind of sick to my stomach. The characters are some of the worst human beings the planet has ever hosted. Pompous, arrogant, entitled, smug, completely lacking in empathy, and dissociated from any semblance of reality other than extravagant wealth they inherited. Topping it off they have no idea how to manage the company they inherited. Adding to the chaos, sister's suitor boyfriend is so painfully hoping to solidify his engagement to one of the heirs that he proposes to her in the hospital as her father lies on his deathbed. Then there's the utterly abhorrent cousin who acts like some dimwit under the control of his white trash mother in, I assume, Kansas, who keeps telling him to hang in there and get a job to secure his own future. If this show does anything well it's display in crass detail the length to which people will go to grab their pound of flesh. Oh, and would someone consider writing some actual dialog?
