Metaphorical Tooth Decay...
Xstal5 January 2022
Nothing here to make you smile, worst finale by a country mile. Contrasting this to previous ends, mind bogglingly bad, no dividends. The man in charge has no idea, he's turned gold into diarrhoea. About the villain what can you say, must suffer badly from tooth decay.

Glad that seasons over
jae27810 December 2018
Well that was a poor end to a terrible season, writers you should be ashamed. As an episode it was ok but season finale NO. Let's hope as it's taking a year off they get better writers, and a better bloke in charge. Plus don't you find that Jodie seems like she's reading the lines but deffo does not have a clue what she's saying, good actress but needs to make people believe she's an intelligent Time Lord.

Chibnall needs to be deleted

Warning: Spoilers
Is it the Master? Is it Davros? No, it's Tim Shaw!

Not the worst episode of this season, but certainly the worst finale episode since 2005. Chibnall's writing is as dull as dishwater. Jodie does her best with the poor scripts, but an actress as talented as her deserves better.

An incredibly bland episode.
LynksD9 December 2018
Honestly, this episode was just bland. I was engaged throughout because I was waiting for the big reveal, the big twist, the epic fight, some epic monologue, anything. Nothing happened. It was just a big buildup to nothing.

The season was bland for the most part as well. The only episodes I would consider rememberable are Rosa and It Takes You Away.

A decent episode, The worst finale
jareddavies-5003510 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Individually, this should be the standard of each episode

as a finale, it was very anticlimactic. they recycled the plot of the pirate world and the journeys end 3 parter but stuffed into one episode

I like tzim sha but unfortunately he does absolutely nothing (despite seeming very menacing in this episode)

When he ripped out his life support tubes i expected him to show off some great powers given to him by the (deus) Ux (machina), but alas no, he does absolutely nothing and gets taken out by a shot to the foot (apparently his armour is obsolete, though I suppose 3.5 thousand years will do that to you).

overall, this was a pretty decent episode of doctor who. the villain was menacing and I personally liked him a lot but the script really failed him.

As a series finale (yes series, im welsh) it is possibly the worst or at least the most anticlimactic since the reboot.

overall I'd give this episode a 7/10, but as a finale I'd give it a 4/10 at best *(especially considering there wont be a season next year. I wonder how many fans will stick around after this arguably awful and overall short season.

Solid episode but didn't feel like a finale
dormesher-2156510 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Doctor Who The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos. I thought this was a great finale now it wasn't as good as previous episodes in the season it was still a strong episode with some great moments.

Graham was great in this episode and it felt like his story came full circle and honestly he his my favourite out of the new companions he was really great in this episode and always has the strongest moments.

Jodie Whitaker was brilliant in this one and has continued to great in all these later episodes of the season she is really strong in this role and I love her as the Doctor.

I like the Stenza I think they are great villain and I love the design I liked how this episode brought him and continued his story of from the first episode really well.

Now my main negative with this episode is it doesn't really feel like a finale this episode could of been anywhere in the season and still worked the same. Also we never got any more of the Timeless Child which was brought up in the Ghost Monument why was there no resolution to one the more interesting points of the season I hope this isn't going to be like another Moffat was drags out for her whole era. The story also in my opinion wasnt has strong as previous episodes like Kerblam, Witchfinders and It Takes you Away.

I really like the effects in this one this is possibly the best Doctor Who has looked in my opinion. A very strong episode with great character moments just not has strong as other stories in the season.

Verdict 8.5/10 a great finale. However other stories where stronger and did really feel like a finale still really enjoyed it though.

A Decent Conclusion. Although slightly Anti-climatic at the same time.
tobieash9 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This story was ok at best for the finale. Tim Shaw's return as the main villain was always great to see. Tim Shaw was my favourite part of this episode as he had technically became a god after he killed Grace and was teleported away by the Doctor. He was yet again a really good villain as was hearing his great menacing voice although he could of done more killing to be more of a threat like he was in The Woman Who Fell To Earth.

The overlaying story arcs with Graham dealing with Grace's death and being a Grandad to Ryan ended really nicely and seeing them to finally fist bump was a great thing to see because Ryan was refusing to do that the whole series but to see them finally treat each other as a proper family in the end was great.

Yaz was my least favourite part of the episode though. She kept doing the asking questions motif she kept doing over the whole of Series 11 again and I know it was just so she could get her head round the situations she put herself in but honestly it started to get quite irritating when she kept asking questions to the doctor. Oh well at least she was sort of decent in a few episodes.

Seeing the Sniperbots return from The Ghost Monument was kind of unexpected for me and they where quite cool in this story but they never really ended up being threatening for me. They feel like they where just put there just so people could remember that they actually where a foe in the series.

All the side characters where ok at best. Jodie did a pretty good job playing The Doctor this series overall in my opinion. Although I won't fully judge her era so far yet. The dialogue and the script was pretty alright but sometimes it felt a bit clunky and sometimes people in this story kept answering questions too much just like Yaz and It kind of ruined the flow of the story a little for me.

The references to when Jodie mentions she once towed a planet away in which I think she was referencing Stolen Earth/Journey's End when David Tennant was pulling the Earth away with his Tardis while all his friends and companions where in the Tardis console room. If so then I loved that reference it was great.

The ending was a little Anti-Climatic in my opinion. It kind of felt like it was just an end to a normal episode of the show before the finale then an actual ending to a series maybe because it just felt a little rushed but overall all the story arcs ended sort of ok.

The Ux where an interesting part of the episode. They have the ability to shape a planet just using there minds was quite a cool concept but overall it was a good addition to the episode and I liked the actors who portrayed them. Although, one of the Ux reminded me of Radzi from the show Blue Peter for some reason because the way he looked and sounded reminded me of him for some reason.

Overall, It was a pretty great finale in my opinion. Although it felt a little rushed at times.

Now the New Year Special is coming up. I hope it lives up to the wait. Although I still annoyed they aren't doing Christmas Specials anymore. Mainly because apparently Chris Chibnall ran out of ideas which I found to be quite a poor excuse really. Oh well here's to New Years. Reviewing this series was overall pretty fun. :)

What is wrong with you all?
HarbingerUK17 December 2018
This was a good episode villains, robots, spaceships, quirky characters. The list goes on. Doctor Who is and always has been a cheesey series where you suspend disbelief, hang your brain up at the door and merely enjoy the ride. I am a child of the 70s and the effects were ropey, the plots thin but the romp fun. We've become a bit too up our own buttholes and high brow with some of the reviews I've read and this was never that series. Get over yourselves. I give this a solid 8

Decent conclusion.
Sleepin_Dragon10 December 2018
A great title, an episode with some very good elements, it was big and bold, but you'd have needed to have enjoyed the first episode to buy into this one, maybe an episode not hugely appealing to a casual fan.

There were some good scenes between The Doctor and Graham, and it was nice to see a bit of conflict between the pair, I thought Bradley Walsh was excellent in this. Jodie was very good here too, I thought one of her best performances to date.

Some very nice special effects, it wasn't an epic series finale, by any stretch of the imagination, when you consider finales from previous seasons. Overall though, I liked it, I thought the writing was rather good, with some huge ideas, fairly well realised.

So the big question, Resolution........ Of .......... Not long to wait.

7/10 Summary: Ambitious, rather good in fact.

The Battle of Rank Amateurs av Krap Writers
johnshields-875589 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
There was a lot of build up to this episode with the Doctor saying she knew that voice and a terrible reckoning awaiting her.Who could it be - Davros , The Master, some other fiend from the past. Sadly just that teeth pulling loon from the first episode who is sadly the only recognisable villain from this season. The Doctor thinks shrinking planets is impossible but knows full well it's been done before ( the pirate planet). The episode like all previous ones this season is just a barely plotted runaround that looks as if it was written in an hour and leaves no lasting impression once it's over, all that build up for nothing. So 10 episode in and we have a writer who is completely out of his depth being a showrunner a Doctor who is completely out of her depth in every situation ( if all her companions were killed she'd be" Whoe that's like bang out of order" with no flicker of emotion and only her usual wide eyed stare) and a group of companions who are sadly not experienced enough yet to be be in a big show like this ( Bradley Walsh is fine but even he isn't that experienced an actor either) which means the level of amatuernes is palpable in every scene. A season of writers and actors playing at being writers and actors hoping something will stick. What a waste of a season.

Reverse The Polarity in 2019 or Dr Who is done!
doorsscorpywag9 December 2018
When Russ Davies re-imagined Doctor Who he did so from the position of being a huge fan with an obligation to what had gone before. The actors he employed seemed to feel that same obligation. Chris Eccleston and amazingly Billie Piper, of all people, set up The Doctor brilliantly for the new millennium. Chris handed over to David Tennant who managed to become one of the truly Great Doctors after a debut that was rather cringe-worthy. Davies was able to bring out the best in these actors and lovingly crafted some of the best Dr Who stories and characters. We saw old favourites like The Daleks and Cybermen joined by Weeping Angels in episodes that were, for what was in effect a kid's show, some of the scariest Dr Who ever.

Stephen Moffat took over and we saw some poor service given to Matt Smith whose Doctor was among the best performances of that character. It was a shame as Moffat was like Davies and held the show in great regard. He gave us Weeping Angels.

But he tried to do far too much and instead the show became too convoluted with story arcs that went nowhere. He tried to show too much companion back story and Clara who began really well ended up stinking up the show. His other companion Bill was among the shows poorest. Davies however had some of the greats. Rose, Martha and yes Donna who surprised me by becoming essential to the TARDIS and was given one of the best goodbye stories ever.

Moffat tried to get out of Davies shadow and got into a bit of a mess. He gave us new Daleks when nobody wanted them. At least he realised his mistake and they became an afterthought in Dalek episodes that were driven by old Dalek. He flopped disastrously when he did the same to Cybermen. His Egg Moon was diabolical but was Shakespeare compared to the pap that passes for writing in 11.

But his greatest achievement and service to Dr Who was Missy. He set the stage for a female Doctor.

Now the show is in the hands of someone called Chibnall who clearly has not a clue about The Doctor. His choice was Whittaker and she has managed to become the worst ever occupant of the TARDIS.

Demented sonic stick waving coupled with moronic facial expressions and babbling nonsense coming from her mouth, such as the 7 Grandmothers comment last week, have cemented her position as the worst ever 'Doctor'. She cannot act and for that, never mind her portrayal, deserves to be exterminated at the earliest opportunity or Doctor Who is doomed.

If I had to pick my Top 10 worst ever Dr Who episodes this whole series11 would fill that category. And this from a fan who saw the first ever Dr Who in 1963 age 8 and was hooked by The Dead Planet and the first ever appearance of a Dalek. Even as an adult I enjoyed the show and as an old man loved Russel Davies NuWho. But sadly since Moffat it has been going downhill until this point today as the finale of Series 11 takes Who to a level of rubbish that was until 2018 only imagined.

The latest nonsense shows that the people in charge have not got a clue. They cannot write a good Sci-Fi story. Landing on a planet after receiving 9 distress calls the woman in the clown suit and her 3 idiot disciples find their foe is an old enemy. What the 9 distress calls had to do with it is unknown but the acting was diabolical as usual from Whittaker who amazingly took 10 minutes to pull out her magic stick. What exactly she is reading is unknown as it's a stick made out of some junk back in Sheffield. There is no screen to read anything from but she gets huge amounts of information from it. She acts like a dribbling idiot as she babbles on inanely whilst making stupid facial expressions. And surely her outfit needs a nice machine wash by now. Everybody else is wearing something new.

Rubbish story, pathetic alien once again, lousy acting from the idiots in the TARDIS. We now know that a series 12 has been given to these morons and on the strength of what we have seen in 2018 I think Dr Who may not make it to a series 13 sadly.

An OKAY end to a BAD season
mattfisher-803449 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
A much better episode when compared to a lot others this season. But I feel like this would have been better placed as an episode 6 or 7 as it was rather underwhelming for a season finale.

I thought the set up of the episode was really good and it had me quite intrigued from the start. I thought the performances were good also; Mark Addy was great, Bradley Walsh was amazing as ever and Jodie was less annoying than usual.

But i feel like these performances of the actors are constantly ruined by the ridiculous expositional dialogue that plagued this season. Seriously, when Yaz turned around and shouted 'sniper bots' just 2 minutes after Ryan does the exact same thing. Like yes I can see that, you don't have to tell it to me. I don't want to have everything that i'm watching being explained to me. (That is just one quick and easy example to use from this episode).

Speaking of the sniper bots, in a rare moment of actual tension when Ryan and Graham were surrounded by them, they just duck and the bots shoot each other????!!! WHAT? Could no one think of a more inventive way for them to get out of this situation?

I don't want to rant too much on some picky issues as I did enjoy this episode significantly more than most this season.

Revolution of Rising Expectations
Rebarbativsky12 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I didn't find this nearly as bad as some commenters, but it did undoubtedly lack the razzle-dazzle we've come to expect in NuWho season finales. To those who vociferously complain about that, however, I can only offer two words: Time Flight.

Nevertheless, I was perplexed and disappointed that, having given us the nod to classic Who of the perennial quarry location (remember Moffat's joke about that in The Curse of Fatal Death?), Chibnall completely ignored the reference to Pirate Planet (Douglas Adams!)--would it have killed him to have the Doctor say to Tzim Sha that she'd seen planets put in boxes before, but much more elegantly?

My overall problem with this season, which makes at least partial sense of the normally wonderful Jodie Whittaker's one-dimensional portrayal, has been the down-pitching and flattening of the stories' target audience. This season had more of the feel of the Sarah Jane Adventures than the multi-layered and subtle dramatics of the revived series generally. Has Mary Whitehouse risen from the grave (now, *that* would be terrifying)? RTD acknowledged that the new version had upgraded the base age level to which the show was written from 8 to 16 (which in this era is practically adult); this season has seemed to regress. Please don't bring back K-9; we've come to expect more maturity from Doctor Who.

The Doctor and her friends cross paths with Tzim-Sha again
Tweekums10 December 2018
This episode sees The Doctor answering a distress signal on the planet Ranskoor Av Kolos; over the years nine ships have called for help from the same location. The planet has a psychic field so they must wear special devices. When they meet Paltraki, the captain of a ship, who has no memory of who is or why he is there it becomes clear why they need the devices. Once he is given one he can explain more about the situation. It turns out that Tzim-Sha, the Stenza exiled after the series opener, is on this planet and he met the Ux, a race of two people with amazing telekinetic powers, who mistook him for their god. Graham it determined that he will kill Tzim-Sha for killing his wife despite The Doctor's warning that she will have nothing more to do with him if he does so.

This was a decent episode even if it didn't really feel like a season finale. The return of Tzim-Sha was an enjoyable reference back to start of the season, giving characters, most notably Graham, motives for revenge. The look of the planet, clearly filmed in a disused quarry felt like a nod to the 'classic' era of Doctor Who. The Ux are an interesting species although I would have liked it if were shown in greater detail just how they came to believe Tzim-Sha was their god given how quickly she persuaded them that they were wrong. I could have done without the sniper-robots as they were suicidally useless. On the plus side the episode had a great atmosphere and grew increasingly tense towards the end. The cast does a fine job; Jodie Whittaker impresses as The Doctor and Bradley Walsh stands out as Graham. Overall not the best episode of the series but it was still solid and felt like proper Doctor Who.

A Writer So Predictable I Knew How He Would End The Series
alsmess10 December 2018
As predicted in my review of the first episode of this series the man in charge and head writer brought back his utterly lame villain from that episode. If Chris Chibnail was in charge of biscuit manufacture they would all be Rich Tea,or a dry cracker, bland and boring. The title sounds like the sort of tripe a spotty youth would scribble in his homework book, amateurish, daydreaming fantasy. He probably drew his monster beside it and coloured it in using his blue biro.Years later when approached by the BBC and given the huge responsibility of running one of their top shows Mr Chibnail decided to dig out his old homework books and get his adolescent drivel made. There is a wealth of fantastic genre writers out there and this is what we got stuck with. Brave? Bold? Ha, I think not.Get someone like Alan Moore to write a story I bet he could give you something that was brave, bold and new.You might not like it but it probably wouldn't bore you to death.

Chibbnall calls this a season finale?
quasar-0890913 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The worst season finale in the entire history of New Who. a finale is supposed to be epic and grand in scale with a huge threat for the Doctor to face, what do we get? the return of the tooth monster from episode 1, who wasn,t all that interesting to begin with. even worse, he is supposed to be this deadly killer responsible for the deaths of thousands, but Graham takes him down easily after shooting him in the leg lol.

very boring episode for a season finale, and i actually find it amusing that the 2 best actors in the entire episode are the 2 white guys who were not hired to tick boxes as part of the BBCs diversity policy

timeandspace-1234569 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
A really enjoyable epsiode which nicely wraps up some of the plot and character arcs from series 11. Genuinely made me smile with the Doctor's speech towards the end of the episode. The Stenza's return was predictable, sure- but 'Tim Shaw's purpose was different. Jodie Whittaker and cast all were fantastic. Fun and exciting! Plus the teaser for the New Years Day epsiode in a few weeks time looked epic.

The Return of the Tooth Fairy
mayfayne10 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Finally, a barely adequate episode. The Doctor is still bland and boring, the companions interchangeably dull but at least there was an element of tension and a reasonably coherent storyline this time. The planets in boxes were absurd and the religious references laughable but you could see an attempt at a narrative. I wonder how much the writers were paid to produce this substandard dreck.
