The Second Worst Episode

This series was off to a GREAT start; 3 for 3. And while I understand the "shtick" is that every episode has a different director and style, this episode came off as the most vapid, campy and cliche out of all of them. First, a gay wedding...wow. Never seen THAT one done before. And regardless of how much you want that break-out singer's career to happen, if he didn't take the 5 minutes necessary to watch a youtube video and learn how to pronounce the words to Ave Maria correctly, he doesn't deserve one. Second, Alec Mapa? Um...OK...if we really really must. But when you have to have to insert a laugh-track through your actors to let us know when the lines are supposed to be funny...chances are they just aren't. And they definitely weren't. Third, what the hell was that ball of light? Meaningless, superfluous, campy filler. It did nothing for plot exposition or even scene transition...just lame. And lastly...and this is the MOST important here, there was NOTHING SAID in this episode! It was completely devoid of any plot or story. It's as if the writer simply tried to create a scene to put as many characters together under a premise (i.e. a wedding) such that they could each have a few lines for fun...and that's it. What was the significance of Dan Francese's character in bed throwing up? What was the back-story on why Levi "had it so rough"? And the trannie and Alec Mapa-- oh, wait...no one cares. You had the opportunity to get further insight into the characters that had already been slightly exposed (all that can take place in 30 minutes episodes, anyway) and instead of giving us more character build-up, the episode gives us cutaways of them dancing, kissing, mugging for the camera etc. Cheap, meaningless, and just bad. Not as bad as the whole "Truvada commercial" that you tried to pass off as an episode, but nearly as bad. This series has the POTENTIAL to really say something...don't blow it!
