back to the lame, packaged pap I thought LMN had left behind
billsoccer19 October 2018
The story is almost unwatchable - plot points so unbelievable and telegraphed so blatantly! The acting isn't much better, though I'm not sure how much freedom the actors had. The ending 'reveal' is completely unsurprising and doesn't help explain the characters behavior

Cheesy
jonathan-maher31 January 2020
A film that starts well but quickly the plot becomes highly predictable, it's a bit like Gaslight without a decent script, direction and acting. The male at the centre of the love triangle truly is a terrible actor, whose performance is like colour by numbers, highly predictable and wooden. It's not bad, it's not good either. Could have done with more work on the script and production.

It's alright to pass the time.
renison00728 December 2019
The rating of 5 is pretty accurate for a TV movie. It's neither very good nor very bad. The plot is also very obvious though they try to keep the suspense till the end.

Where do I begin? The Bad acting, the ridiculous plot, the fake duck tape? I think my kids could have put together a better movie.

Bigamy
monica_maclean5 October 2020
So this film is odd. Widow's son is almost kidnapped from a soft play centre and the kidnap is thwarted by a handsome stranger. Widow falls in love with the stranger and they marry, only for her to later discover her new husband is already married. Her husband's real wife is unhinged and determined to get her estranged husband back, but there is a sinister twist, seems the husband and his real wife have other ideas. The strange thing about this film is the second "wife" doesn't get that she's not legally married as her "husband" is still married so he's a bigamist, so why hasn't he been arrested.

Dumbest Movie Ever

A new low in TV movies for Lifetime. Storyline is insane. Acting is terrible. I need 1.5 hours of my life back.

What most contributors said!

Lifetime at it in a typical way! A seriously stupid plot! Must be a blond thing for someone to marry someone only after two months of dating. One contributor accurately highlighted all the ridiculous scenes very accurately! Helena and her real life sister Sofia must have been desperate for money to accept roles!!!!

Avery's Fragile Psyche
lavatch17 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Avery Stinson is a successful artist and runs a gallery along with her sister Kat and Kat's boyfriend Hugh. But Avery is still haunted by the tragic auto accident that took the life of her husband Jesse. Now, a new man, Alex, and come into her life after assisting in the rescue of Avery's little boy Jack during a kidnapping attempt. Without knowing much about Alex's past, Avery has rushed to the altar, and now must face the truth about the secrets of Alex's past.

One of those secrets is that Alex is still married to a woman named Melanie, who just keeps showing up throughout the film, despite an apparent restraining order. Melanie is clearly unhinged, yet Alex keeps defending her. "We had a history," he tells Avery, as if that will justify his bad behavior as a liar and a bigamist.

The characters in "My Husband's Secret Life" were a motley crew indeed. With the exception of the well-balanced sister Kat and the nice mom, Lisette, the other characters were edgy and erratic. Hugh seemed devoted to Avery at the art studio, but he also seemed to have had some past involvement with Melanie. Alex has to be the most incompetent attorney on the planet, based on his inability to argue his own case to his two wives. Even Avery, a pill popper, is capable of coming unglued at any moment.

The filmmakers kept up a lively pace to the film. But poor little Jack may require years of therapy after being tossed around like a hot potato. As an artist, Avery's masterpiece was the lifelike sculpture of the winged horse Pegasus. In the film's denouement, Avery was wise in standing behind the horse and rejecting the overtures of another suitor who could bring more misery to her fragile psyche.

Utter tripe.
Aroura649 January 2020
Once again I'm plonked in front of the TV, getting over a cold and watching tripe. Normally films shown in the afternoon have a reasonable plot, but this film is just implausible nonsense. I can think of no redeeming features, one to avoid.

Really awful plot
dshirlyn-116 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This movie started with some promise well as much promise as there can be in a Lifetime movie. The plot killed this movie, it made no sense. Adoption and fostering are options. Who does what they planned? Sigh, this could have been better. The child too had no input save a few lines. Was he supposed to be about i year old ? He just seemed clueless and could have been better used. Awful all round.

Better than average thriller with an attractive cast
phd_travel4 September 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This is quite a well made thriller with an attractive cast and an above average story for a Lifetime thriller. Helena Mattson who is very pretty plays a widow with a young son. She marries a man after a whirlwind romance. But as the title suggests he has a wife already. Brianna Evigan plays the wacko wife quite well. Things progress to an expected showdown but the way things unfold is exciting and the acting is pretty good. All that for a little boy?

Helena's real life sister plays her sister here.

Worth watching.

lack of respect
romodomo18 July 2021
I agree with all the bad reviews. However, I need to say that the actor who played Alex was really outstanding in his bad manner of acting. The plot was, like most of reviewers said, hardly plausible. They do not have any respect for their viewers, probably they think we are all idiots.

horribly written movie
dmichaelsKD19 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
First of all the whole premise of the movie fails in the beginning. He didn't change his identity they wouldn't have been able to get a wedding license and the whole wedding wouldn't have happened. Then during the whole movie everyone still treats him as husband even though he can't be because he is already married.

The guy catches wife changing pills and says hold on I am going to turn my back to you and call the police. Promise you won't kill me while my back is turned.

She is told in the beginning that he only loves her for her kid and she doesn't immediately suspect he is just trying to steal her kid. She just lets everything slide like nothing happened. It is all very stupid.

I am also getting very tired of the writers crutch of oh my cell phone doesn't work around here. There are very few places now a days where a cell phone won't work stop writing that crap.
