- Bull is brought on to help the FBI's case against a hacker whom they believe breached air traffic control at LaGuardia Airport. But when Cable learns that the accused is her friend's husband, she risks breaking the law - and defying Bull - to try and prove his innocence.—ahmetkozan
- Air traffic controllers are working the in-bounds to an NYC area airport when their screens start to misbehave, with information coming and going. During one of the outages, there is a near miss and the controllers divert all the aircraft to nearby airports. They've been hacked. The FBI locates the hacker and makes an arrest. Because the case will be very technical, the feds solicit help from Bull and his company to select a jury that will be open to convicting the alleged hacker. Because this involves computer hacking of the highest skill levels, Bull confiscates the cell phones of his staff before briefing them on the case and tells them the entire affair must remain off the grid. Cable is given the task of confirming the identity of the hacker through a comparison of the style used on the FAA server with known code he has previously used when hacking. Soon after, Cable's old school chum suddenly surfaces and begs help. Cable reports, quickly to Bull and both agree that the surfacing of the college chum is beyond coincidence. Bull tells Cable she must not see the friend. But, the friend is waiting and tells Cable she is bearing the child of the accused hacker and gives her a thumb drive which she says will confirm the accused is innocent. Having been given access to the FAA server, Cable confirms with high accuracy that the accused is, indeed, the hacker. She then plugs in the thumb drive given to her by her old roommate. The drive confirms that the accused is indeed the hacker. But the thumb drive also contains a virus that deletes all the evidence against the accused. The FBI arrests Cable for destruction of the evidence and the case is dismissed. Bull has been bothered all along that there was no apparent motive for the hack; no demands, no claims by terrorists. Visiting Cable in jail, Bull learns from Cable that there were clues in the accused's code that suggest a connection to JANET. JANET is a top secret airline operated by the USAF to secretly transport selected individuals by the Defense Department. The motive for the hack is now revealed; sell movement information to foreign governments. With this knowledge, the FBI re-arrests the hacker and he is convicted. In return, Cable is released. In an emotional final scene, Cable thanks Bull for securing her release and he is forced to tell her she has been terminated from his company.
