This is how it's done!

Putting together a Christmas show with great singers and songs for TV has been done many times over. What hasn't been done much is putting on a show that has feeling and an overall effect of getting all the puzzle pieces to fit together. A sense of unity. A Nashville Christmas accomplished that! One of the major keys in getting this done was to have a smaller venue. You get the feeling of closeness and comfort. You don't need an orchestra, a small band will do! Another key was getting the artists to interact with each other. All the performers on this special seemed as if they knew each other and they were very happy to be working together. The audience can feel this. One segment that was rehearsed was so good, they decided to leave it as it was. What a great decision! It wasn't just one song after another. The singers had something to say and the audience was eager to listen. Wynonna let us know that Emmylou was her idol and it was a privilege to be on the same stage as her. The songs selected fit each artist like a glove. One song, though, Coat of Many Colors, sung by Ms Harris, can be a positive if you want to be different or negative, as Emmylou points out, it's not really a Christmas song. Besides the fine Country music singers in the show, gospel singer Ashley Cleveland makes her presence felt. Her grand smile alone would draw you to this special. The promotion for this show harkens back to another era. The stars did mini commercials for that particular station leading up to the broadcast. Hopefully there will be a Nashville Christmas II!
