This episode is a continuation of last season's plot about Doc Martin and his needing to prove his competency to continue practicing medicine in the UK. To determine his effectiveness as a doctor, a doctor from the government health service will be shadowing him. It naturally does not go well--partly due to Martin's brusqueness with his patients and partly due to the controlling nature of the doctor shadowing him. What eventually happens is pretty predictable based on other episodes....and Martin eventually shows his skills and ends up saving this person who came to observe him! Additional plots involve the pharmacist and a serious injury she incurs and, once again, Bert Large is behaving foolishly when it comes to his business...much to his son's consternation.
This is a good episode, albeit a very familiar and predictable one. This isn't so much a complaint but more that certain themes repeat themselves as the series is in it's 9th season. Fans of the show will enjoy it.
