History Web Series Season 1 Episodes 1 - 4
randomfanreviews10 January 2019
The series starts off a little cheesy however in a good way. I would not watch this if you are under the age of 13 because it does show something that is considered "sexual". It may just be me when it comes to awkward moments, I just get second-hand embarrassment easily and it has those moments. There are 4 episodes that are about 20 minutes long. One of my favorite things is when Lan Xi possess Gu Si Ren, the thoughts are in Lan Xi's voice. It is really humorous to watch. This series can make you open eyes to those you fall in love with. It has a good lesson to anyone about love. Would you watch again? Maybe, if I was bored and wanted to watch something.

Loved History 4: Close to You
Shevy-Chan19 June 2021
Close to You (History 4) was by far my favorite HIStory season and is definitely in my top 15 BL list.

It took me a while to warm up to Xiao Li Cheng, at first I found him to be irritating, but by episode 8 I couldn't deny that he was by far my favorite character. I found the interaction between him and Teng Mu Ren to be tremendously more interesting than the interaction between Ye Xing Si and Fu Yong Jie. In fact, I found Fu Yong Jie to be a rather distasteful character and couldn't quite stomach his scenes.

Regardless, I binged watched the season for two nights in a row and the amount of laughter I had to stifle in so as to not disturb anyone had me sounding like a wounded animal. Would definitely recommend.

Enjoyable...

Warning: Spoilers
What I've enjoyed about this series is that you can watch any season in any order, as they are all independent stories (with some character overlap in seasons 4 & 5). But admittedly, at the time of writing this review, I haven't yet watched season 2.

I began watching with HIStory 3: Trapped, which was a fun enough story. It was acted well and made me definitely want to check out more of the show.

I then watched HIStory 5: Love in the Future and followed it up with HIStory 4: Close to You, which I wish I would have watched season 4 before watching season 5, as there is a storyline that plays through both. I enjoyed both seasons a lot though, maybe ranking season 5 over season 4, mostly because I enjoyed the fantasy/sci-fi aspect of the time travel.

I figured at this point I should really check out season 1, which was just meh to me. But I give it credit for being the jumping off point for where all the later seasons have come from.

I just recently finished History 3: Make Our Days Count, and this season is why I'm giving HIStory only 6 stars and not more. The story was so likable, until the curveball of an ending. Looking back on it, of course now I see why it's titled as it is, but that last episode just ruined it all. I couldn't even cry because I was confused for ninety percent of it, and wondering if there was some kind of big reveal waiting to happen. But no. So instead of being sad, I'm just mad. It could have been done so much better, instead of trying to be ambiguous about what exactly happened until over half way through the final episode. If you're going to make me love a character and then completely pull the rug out from under me, at least make it worth it. Give me the closure, don't make me feel like I was robbed of getting to say good-bye.

I will say though, for anything this series may lack, the talented acting is not one of them. I've really liked the actors so much throughout all of the seasons, there is some wonderful talent to be found. So all in all, it's worth checking out, but maybe stop watching Season 3: Make Our Days Count about 5 minutes before the end of the penultimate episode of the season and just pretend that's where it ends.

Edit: I've decided to let it go, let it flow. After watching the Season 2 storylines and enjoying them, I've raised my rating to 8 stars. This is definitely a series to watch and among my favorite Taiwan BLs.

Asian bl stories taken to another level !
aoki_ra30 April 2019
First of all, I love every piece of History. I can watch them all for many times and not get bored at all. I feel that many Asian countries try to portray LGBTQ stories lightly. Although they're mainly for entertainment purpose, the big influence of the entertainment itself shouldn't be underestimated. Because of that, I'd like to give credits to the people behind these mini series. They did great jobs in aspects of stories, casting, directing, producing etc. although they probably done with low budget.

Also, I'm quite curious about the actors. They're so AMAZING, yet they're not quite well known. Anyway, I hope they'll be more series like this and the conservative parts of Asia get to see these incredible stories.

Recommend BL series!
sini-20012 February 2020
The show offers anthology from different kind of modern BL romance. The first season is kind of cheesy and cliche, but trust me it gets better in S2 (if you like, skip S1 and go directly to S2) because each season has its own individual stories, so you can watch from any of them. The acting is a lot better in other seasons too and the chemistry between the characters. I did enjoy the episodes in first season too.

I highly recommend the second season's History2: Crossing the Line. It's great love story where the jock Xia Yu Hao falls in love with Qui Zi Xuan a volleyball leader. The characters are very different but that way complete each other, which makes them great together. It's wonderful to see how Yu Hao falls for him, and eventually so does Zi Xuan. It's a great modern love story with also funny side characters. Totally worth the watch, I need more seasons of them!

History3: Trapped has to be one of my ultimate tops. It's where police Meng Shao Feng falls in love with gang member Tang Yi with tragic past, having made mistakes for right reasons. The plot itself is very well written and interesting to keep you going with plot twist you don't see coming. It's great character chemistry from the start and Tang Yi's character development is incredible to the ending where I couldn't stop crying. I loved their "cat & mouse" game in the beginning and seeing how they grow from enemies to "half friends", friends and boyfriends. It has to be one of the best BL stories I have seen, and will be watching again.

No geral é muito bom, mas quando é ruim, é ruim com força. Tem 2 histórias bem problemáticas.
