Bluebeard's Castle (Hungarian: A kékszakállú herceg vára) is a one-act expressionist opera by Hungarian composer Béla Bartók, based on the French tale La Barbe bleue by Charles Perrault. The original tale tells the story of a wealthy man in the habit of murdering his wives and the attempts of one wife to avoid the fate of her predecessors.
