I can't believe they cancelled this show!

I really like(d) this show. I can't believe they cancelled it. I hope a streaming service picks it up and continues it! I looked forward to seeing every episode and enjoyed all of them.

Enjoyed something different.

I like these kind of shows but learn not to get too attached! They usually get canceled but we have 50 seasons NCIS or Law and Order. Not dissing those shows but would like some variety! Hope this one lasts a few seasons at least. I liked the different family dynamic as well.

Two episodes in and I'm intrigued
rightasrain-9693416 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I'm interested in seeing where this show goes. The lead is young and still figuring things out regarding her inherited psychic gift. She's a functional adult, but she has issues. Only two episodes have aired so far, so obviously a lot hasn't been explained yet. How things unfold will determine whether this series becomes a must-watch or ends up a predictable groaner. Most great series need some time to find their feet and any series that explains everything in the first episode is pointless, so I'll keep watching.

Things I appreciate so far:

1. In the Pilot, Cassie helps the spirit of a young girl that's "haunting" her. At first I thought, how typical. However, I appreciated the twist that she did this not by helping the girl find peace in forgiveness for what happened to her, but by helping her find revenge by haunting her abuser/murderer.

2. It's set in Seattle and I appreciated the fact that it wasn't raining all the time, nor was it constantly sunny - both of which would be unrealistic.

3. I like how her psychic episodes vary. It's not just straight up This Is What Happened or Is Going to Happen. Some of her episodes involve the victim, some involve the perpetrator. Sometimes she's seeing what happened/is happening from the subject's perspective, and sometimes what she sees is more metaphorical.

4. I appreciate the diversity of cast. Some criticize that it's too stereotypical, some complain that the liberal agenda is being forced down our throat (how dare they portray a gay couple who just act like normal people in a typical committed relationship?) But I'm just thankful to see a variety of people acting out normal lives (well, apart from the psychic angle and the fact that every episode contains danger and drama.. it IS a tv show after all!) The only true stereotypical casting that caused an eye-roll from me was the lead being a blonde white girl. However, I think she's doing a great job in her role, so I've moved past the casting director's choice.

I know personal taste plays heavily into how one enjoys a show so sometimes reading reviews is pointless, so for anyone reading this here are a few other shows I've enjoyed that might help you decide whether my taste might align with yours: Bones, Sleepy Hollow, iZombie, Supernatural, Criminal Minds

Perfect Ghost Show
arc-ts27 July 2019
It feels like a cross between Medium and Ghost Whisperer with a good dash of new and unique. It has a great cast with interesting characters and engaging cases.

It's the type of show that could easily run for 6 seasons. I hope this one sticks around!

Worth a look

I see comparisons to Medium and Ghost Whisperer here, I loved Medium and hated Ghost Whisperer. I am enjoying The Inbetween with 2 episodes in. Not sure why there is so much dislike for the lead, she's not as good as Arquette and much better than Love-Hewitt. Has she had neurotoxins injected into her face, of course she has. Don't be stupid, she's an actor. So I like her but my favorite is the detective dad followed closely by LA translplant detective...it's fun watching that isn't too prime time. I hope this show gets enough episodes to find its' legs.

I'm already hooked!
Kilene-156-32292330 May 2019
It reminds me of Ghost Whisperer and Medium, with the added twist. Few shows catch my attention at first glance, and this one does. Cassie (Harriet Dyer) plays a believable and wonderful character that really draws me in what she's experiencing. I'm already looking forward to next week.

Highly recommend!

Ghost whisperer

Yes this might work. I miss Ghost Whisperer much and with the detective involvement this is best of both worlds. I hope that the show keep bringing interesting stories.

Enjoyed It More Than I Expected
donna-40631 May 2019
The "In Between" pilot had many twists that I didn't see coming. I was expecting something straightforward, along the lines of "The Ghost Whisperer" or "Medium" but this one, so far at least, has layers. I'm not going to get into any details because I don't want to give anything away for those who haven't seen it yet but suffice to say, I hope that the writers and show runners continue in this vein.

I will mention that though that some of the critical review left me confused. For example, the comment about the main character's ingratitude when being given a gift. That was a very biased interpretation of the scene. What actually happened was the main character was unexpectedly visited by a detective who had, not once but twice been outright rude to her, and then he unexpectedly shows up at her home very early in the morning. His gift? A pasty. Oh was she supposed to fall all over herself with gratitude? He's lucky that she even deigned to speak to him and didn't slam the door in his face. And then, when she allowed him in and answered his questioned, he insulted her psychic abilities again by accusing her of "just guessing". So much for the other reviewer who said that he was convinced in the first 15 minutes.

We're we watching the same show? People really do see exactly what they want to see.

Pretty good, actually. So far, anyway.....
GKoeneke7 June 2019
I've just watched the Pilot. The idea is sound and the main group of cast members is pretty good. I know it would be too much to ask for NBC to NOT use Nielsen Ratings for shows, but Wednesday at 10pm is a tough sell. On Demand viewership will be more realistic of who's really watching this.

I like the idea, but I'm not sure how well this will hold up given it is a Supernatural Cop Drama, but I like the idea of it.

Warning: Spoilers
Major spoilers: When the little girl appeared I told my wife that's a ghost. When the main detective invited the main actress I told her: Watch him have a male lover. When the killer appeared I said: that's the killer. Strictly by the numbers with zero innovation or surprises. The main actress looks like every other interchangeable blond on TV and looks like she was reading her lines and trying to stay awake at the same time. Actors have certain mannerisms and they grow on you but I won't be finding out here. Pass on this. People giving this a 10 must have watched few shows before this.

Great show. Different than the other drivel
eglackin1 August 2019
I can only watch so much reality TV- which seems to be all that's on. This is a nice crime solving drama with a twist. Cast and crew are great! I'm afraid that I'll fall in love in love only for NBC to cancel. Seems to happen frequently.

The most emotionally resilient lead character ever created.
promontorypoints30 July 2019
Elements of supernatural plus crimefighting & mystery solving- it reminds me of the series Grimm, but without all the intense monster fighting. It suits me because it has those elements, the directing is pretty good, and I like the main characters. Acting is pretty typical for these types of shows. I do have to suspend my disbelief about one thing though. The main character should be driven insane by all of it.

Boring & not very well done.
Harbour18430 May 2019
I really wanted to like this show...after seeing the trailer, I specifically tuned in with an optimistic state of mind...so disappointed. First of all, the producers picked the wrong actress for this part...the main character needed to be portrayed by a strong actress and this one was not it...she was totally unbelievable...the story was jumbled and just plain not close to being believable.....the producers & writers took a great concept for a series and really dropped the ball....will not watch anymore...just plain not interesting.

Good for when nothing else better is on. The new partner became a believer pretty quickly. And how is the lead living in that huge house?

WORST Actors Ever
How is it possible to have so many bad actors in one show?. Such a shame as the idea was good but it just did not come together in too many ways & The script was corny and boring. The make-up dept need to re-train as it was so dreadful & amateurish

ghost whisperer meets medium
stehartley30 May 2019
This is a great show with a strong cast. Paul Blackthorne is solid as always in these sorts of shows. lots of scope for character development and plot line. cant wait to see which direction it goes. thoroughly enjoyed the first episode and cant wait for more. can see this running for quite a while.

Thank you. No.
OperaTarte30 May 2019
There is an error that networks, writers, producers and actors continue in. The story plays as a Greek chorus to the actors/characters. It's all about them - the plot is simply there as a commentary to support them. Cassie Bishop is definitely an independent female. Albeit she uses as inspiration a L'Oreal hair commercial for one scene. In another she has no need for politeness - no thanks for a gift received. Asking a fellow employee for a favor is more of a given. Det. Hackett is the best of the ensemble - there again he's 'new school'. Boring because all this is definitely a "given".

Then for some reason - it was necessary to inform everyone that no-one in America every drinks tea - because ... Predictable - I was not disappointed in expecting it.

Ghost whisperer and any Cops show combination
rmjctn30 May 2019
I miss ghost whisperer so this might work. Also love investigative shows so mixing the two is working! Although acting is not as good as Jennifer Love Hewitt I'm hoping that with experience and time it will change. Not the worst acting... I've seen much much worse.. There are others shows that need to be cancelled but not this one. Kept us entertained for sure. Looking forward to more episodes.

I enjoy the supernatural part of the show, however the cop part bores me to no end. It's cliche.

Terrible
Opinion021226 June 2019
I'm so very disappointed. I was really looking forward to this show because I normally love shows of this type. I find that a little paranormal aspect adds to a show's suspense. Medium was terrific. Patricia Arquette was excellent in her role. Ghost Whisperer, too, had a great female lead in Jennifer Love Hewitt. I read other reviews, here, putting this show in their company, with favorable comparisons. Nope. This show misses them by miles.

If a psychic is going to be the cornerstone of a show, then you need someone with character appeal to play the part. But, the main character in this show is blah. I was so unimpressed by her that I had to look her up here on IMDb. She was so bad I thought this was her first acting job, and she was the daughter of the producer, or someone, like Coppola giving a job to his daughter, Sophia, in Godfather, Part 3. Sophia wasn't the cornerstone, but she did ruin the movie for me. Harriet Dyer just isn't talented enough to carry the show. Even her facial expressions are nonexistent. Botox?

Throwing in a father married to a man, it seems, is now a requirement in the formulas for new shows. Enough, already.

There were far better shows with paranormal and/or scifi thrown in that got the axe. Unlike many of those, this show deserves it. Just terrible. Yup, that sound you hear is the axe sharpening. I, certainly, won't miss this show's demise.

Very disappointed this was cancelled
Firinn45013 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Not sure why they do this - I start liking these series and then they drop them because of these alleged poor ratings. I did think it might be too like the over-long Ghost Whisperer or Medium, but it was thankfully fresh. Sadly I suspect it was the gay parents theme which was refreshing and well-done but which I suppose in these days of intolerance was not popular. I'm a real fan of Paul Blackthorne whose other excellent series the Dresden Files was also cancelled and should have continued, we really missed it. I'll miss this too. Particularly frustrated as we'll now never find out exactly what was going on at the end of that last episode. Couldn't they just do a feature length special?

After I saw the trailer I was really excited about the series.I've only seen the first episode and it didn't let me down. I know it wasn't perfect but it wasn't bad and I really like this kind of series and I am expecting a lot from it

Who cast this monstrosity?
saima_pyke28 June 2019
I was really looking forward to this, I was a big fan of Medium and I even enjoyed Ghost Whisperer but whoo...this one is a stinker. I don't know who did the casting but it wasn't based on acting ability. It's hard to believe the supernatural elements when I can't even believe the natural elements. The conversations are forced and stilted, the relationships are trite and shallow and why do they all look like they came out of a 'made for TV' mould? If you liked Medium or Ghost Whisperer...walk away now before any comparison can sully your enjoyment of those shows.

A beautiful series worth watching!
cjonesas27 December 2019
Though with an old and already used idea, they managed to create a beautiful, fresh and unique in its own genre series.

The atmosphere is there, the acting by the lead actress is good and believable enough and the special effects are especially well-made.

The supporting cast does a good job in each episode.

I guess every viewer was awaiting news to a season 2, but as usually happens with series with a lot of potential, the network did a poor calculation, probably only based on viewers numbers and decided that was it!
