I don't love this show, but I don't hate it either. But Its easy to follow and overall decently enjoyable. The show is listed as a comedy and while there was quite few times I did cackle. A good percentage of time the show isn't funny or the jokes just fall extremely flat. It honestly plays more of as drama then anything. But one mainly aimed at teens to young adults. I can't see anyone older finding anything else redeeming here.
I did however feel that episodes not being long by any means was a positive. As well as some of the characters were enjoyable to watch. Would I recommend the show? Depends on kind of person you are.
If you're someone whos burned through everything else on netflix have go at it. But if you're looking for show to binge and haven't seen any really of what netflix has to offer, then avoid this at all costs.

I watched On My Block in one go, which is always a good sign.
Overall, I liked the story. Four teenagers have been friends for years and are now facing numerous challenges that come with first love and growing up which threaten their friendship.
The main characters are all people of color who live in a poor neighborhood which is a nice change to your usually very white middle class coming of age setting. There have been quite a few more diverse TV shows lately which I think is really great.
However, there are some problems with this show (hence the seven star rating). The acting is mediocre at times. Especially the actor who plays Cesar (a teenage boy who follows in his brother's footsteps and joins the local gang) was not convincing to me. He didn't really portray much emotions which is a bad thing if you play a character who has such a serious storyline. Some scenes, especially in the first few episodes, felt awkward. I can't exactly point out why that was. I blame it on the acting and maybe also the camera work. I also haven't made up my mind about wether or not I like the characters. Sometimes they are real assholes and/or don't feel like realistic, complex human beings. Other times I really liked them. I'd say that the girl,Monse, is my favourite and gives the most consistent (good) performance. There were some sexist tropes that bothered me but I won't go into it here. It would have been cool if the creators had realized this and deconstrucetd it in the same way the deconstructed other elements / tropes but you can't have everything and it's probably only a minor detail for most viewers.
In conclusion, I enjoyed the show and might even watch it a second time. It made me laugh out loud on several occasions even if the humour wasn't always my taste. It's not a master piece, it doesn't stand out but it's also better (I feel) than your average TV show and offers an original take on an old concept.

On My Block is a tv series filled with stereotypical representations, accents and ways of being. The plot is bad and poorly written. It is far from perfect. It is not even a good tv show technically and the acting isn't all that great either. Having said that, I like it. I like all the characters and the way they assemble and got each other's back, the adventures are entertaining and it makes me laugh a couple of times. My favorite is Jamal, so much energy and the funnier to me. This 3 season was good, probably the best one and god damn why does it have such an emotional ending... It broke my heart. Hope it continues!

The dialogue is natural and full of quick witted humor. It's a good refreshing show about teens for teens (and adults)!

I watched the second season of On My Block, it was fine and fluent. Acting and movie music are very good. Especially acting
Love this show, it's got a little bit of everything, drama, comedy, romance, etc. Jamal and Jasmine are hilarious, Ruby is great in his role too, Abuilita is amazing. The actor playing Spooky is nice to look at for the "non-teen crowd" LOL, but is also a good actor. The actors playing Cesar and Monse are just cringey though, not sure if they're just that bad or if the directing is bad on their behalf. I find myself skipping through scenes with just those two, the girl reminds me of Kristen Stewart-monotone and no emotion. The guy probably has potential, but needs better guidance. Otherwise, really well done show, even if people think it's a rip off of another show. Can't wait for more seasons!
I actually loved the first season. It was funny and the characters really grew on you. It was all new and felt refreshing. Also, the ending got me really wanting to see what would happen next.
But when season two came out I really didn't feel it. Some of the actors were pretty bad and cheesy and it just got boring. The whole plot and the things that happened just felt weird and to be honest it wasn't as fun anymore. It became too much and I didn't feel it at all.
Therefore I don't really know how to rate the show, but I'll give it a 7 because I still loved season one.
If you watch On My Block I would recommend you to just skip the second season or maybe watch the first episode of season two, to get some kind of closure. The rest will just disappoint.

I started watching because I had ran out of tv shows to watch on Netflix. It was quite refreshing to watch. The first few episodes especially. All in all, it's not a bad show. My biggest problems were:
1. The Caesar character was too artificial. Unreal. A number of the characters are like that though.
2. The story was stretched out after the first season. There was no real story after season 1.
3. It gets boring too quickly. You won't get hooked on it.

I liked its first season, it looks like a teenager series but on the one hand it has an adult subject. The characters are well-narrated and the story is quite calm in general. It is gratifying that there are not many sexual intercourse scenes. There are also places where it was deflated. I would like to watch other seasons.
Let me start off by saying I enjoyed the show. It's quirky but it keeps you on your toes. What ruined it for me was teenagers lusting over each other, these kids are supposed to be 15-16 years old, I don't want to see them getting "hot and steamy" with each other. I get that the point of the show is that in these "blocks" you grow up quick because of all the violence but damn if I wanna see two minors have sex or imagine each other in sexy scenes. It's cringe. I know there has to be some romantic interest but it could have been done more tastefully. I see it as an attempt to show us how the teenage mind is obsessed with sex but it made the show worse in my eyes.

About a bunch of friends growing in LA it's a decent show like a teen show with adult themes but not as annoying some as most teen shows sometimes can be a bit over the top with some cringe worthy comedy but it's a very Easy entertaining watch
Okay soooo !! From what i can recall watching this show, the first 2 seasons were honestly so good. I finished them super fast and its a quick, yet enjoyable, watch that you can do with family without it being awkward. The characters are all endearing and relateable in their own way (i especially LOVE ruby) and the relationships and friendships are super intriguing and i love to see where they'll go next. Hated the entire character of olivia and wish she was just thrown out to begin with and season 3 was somewhat of a disappointment compared to the others BUT that doesn't take away from the fact that i'm excited for the next (and i think last) season to come out because it does cover some hard topics, like gangs and violence and racism,, just in a very light way which is kinda great.

Wow. This show is amazing. For anyone wanting something to watch on Netflix this is a must. Although season one was slow every season leaves me full of mystery and wanting more. I don't know anyone who has seen this show and not thought it was great . It's definitely underrated and one of Netflix's hidden gems. So enjoyable and not like any other show. It takes a great harsh concept in such a light hearted way still maintaining the thrill and drama.I did not expect to like this but stumbled across it a few months ago and fell in love. I've never heard anyone talk about this and I don't know why.

This show has some problems. For one the actors were fine. They weren't great but the weren't horrible. The show did handle some tricky topics and did so in a decent way. Overall I do not have strong feelings about the show. Ceaser is really the only character I ever really felt any emotions for. This show could have been way better but it is an okay show when you have nothing else to watch.

"On My Block" is an amazing TV series that blends comedy, suspense, adventure, and touching moments. It's a show that will leave you hooked and won't disappoint if you're into emotional teen adventures. The story revolves around relatable teenage experiences, making it easy to connect with the characters and their ups and downs. Laughter, excitement, and heartfelt scenes all come together in a captivating narrative that keeps you engaged throughout.
What sets "On My Block" apart is its ability to tackle the challenges of adolescence with both humor and sensitivity. It's not just a typical teen drama but a genuine journey that explores friendship, loyalty, and resilience. The writing is excellent, filled with surprises, and the young cast's chemistry adds a special charm. If you're looking for a show that mixes emotions and follows a group of teens on an unforgettable ride, "On My Block" is a must-watch for you.

At the heart of the story of On My Block is a group of Los Angeles teenagers consisting of Monse (Sierra Capri), Cesar (Diego Tinoco), Ruby (Jason Genao), Olivia (Ronni Hawk), Jasmine (Jessica Marie Garcia) and Jamal (Brett Gray). Together they conquer the neighborhood and enjoy boredom in the sun, but are also confronted with the social problems of their neighborhood.
"On My Block" really surprised me because I'm usually not a fan of teen dramas.
But "On My Block" actually manages to create strong characters that work well together and tell a story that often makes you laugh, but also has sad moments.

While i am not a big fan of these kind of shows...this i have to admit...was beautifully executed...
how it managed to balanced all the dimensions of the subject matter it tackled...it deserves praise...many shows have failed at that...
it managed to pull me in...i couldn't stay too long...but that's just me not the show...
it's good...

It's genuinely a good show, got quite boring though. There's some implied teen sex, dating, drug dealing/use, drinking, gun use. Worth watching one season of!
