Great low budget flick
carlos-pires16 October 2021
Great low budget flick that uses the time travel theme to its advantage, and in a very resourceful way untangles itself from the potential mess of writing a script about time travel by writing it inside the script itself. I found that very clever, lending the script a whole other level.

The only not-so-great thing about this movie is the blatant amateurishness of 99% of the cast, including the lead man and woman, in contrast with the main supporting character who does a great job.

Fun film for light viewing
tellstar10 October 2021
The actors work hard in this sweet-natured film about time travel and time paradoxes. What I enjoy about titles like this is that they include inventive ideas that would never have made it into larger-budgeted productions - like the "cake test" for determining whether a time paradox has occurred. Don't worry so much about internal time travel logic - this film is more about human relationships.

Would have bumped it to 6.5, if that rating was available.

Well made but...
etim-679-8579315 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed watching this, was a little funny, a little confusing--but I'm pretty sure that was intended.

Like I said, I enjoyed it--right up to the end. Was that the end? At 1:33:36 it just cut off, like I had an incomplete file. Was there supposed to be more? I sure hope so--the non-ending ruined an otherwise decent flick. The final words, "What, wait. What?" was just how I felt about the story when the end credits came up.

One of the Best Very Low-Budget Films of 2021.
betchaareoffendedeasily17 October 2022
I've seen a lot of low and no budget films, especially sci-fi. This is definitely in my top 10 list. It's nt hard sci-fi, it definitely isn't trying to be scientific, and that's okay, in my mind there is more than enough room in sci-for both hard and soft sci-fi stories. I have no problem with a movie that has sci-fi concepts that does not explain much of anything, but if you do, avoid "Paradox Lost", for everyone else, this is a really fun movie, with characters you will actually care about...

I won't summarize the story, don't want to ruin it. It is a time travel movie, mostly it is pretty silly, but at times it is very serious as well. It certainly has echoes of terminator, but only in some of the story elements, it is very much it's own story. It is at it's heart a story about a man who is afraid to live and then he is confronted with an imminent threat and someone who makes his life very unpredictable. It's good story.

One of the things that elevates this is the acting, particularly by the Director Dennis Curlett whom also plays Copper, he is hilarious, and human at the same time. The way he delivers his lines and reacts to things is 100% perfect for the character, and he really brings this awkward character to life. We know little about what things are like where Copper comes from, but based on his awkward behavior, we can tell it is very different. It's a great performance and it 100% makes this movie, sometimes directors playing in their movies works, sometimes it doesn't, it was definitely the right choice here. Danny Cymbal was also appropriately awkward as Barnaby, he did a pretty good job carrying the film, in what I think is actually a deceptively tricky role.

I was entertained all the way through, the ending was pretty clever, and there was some good camera work, and some clever usage of quick cuts, very well done. The only minor problem was the sound sometimes was a little quiet, and one or two scenes with some mismatched dubbing, but it happens, even in big name movies. On the whole, very very well done. Good script, and very good execution.

A very promising directorial debut, I really want to see more from this writer/dirctor/actor, I think he is a bright new talent.

More like..my time lost

Just a second hand student project, not relevant even for tv. Bad acting overall and a stupid story.

WHAT??????

Warning: Spoilers
WTF???

That turned into something so stupid!

This movie was ALL over the board.

It's like taking you through an hour and a half maze, you get the maze, you know where it's going, but you get to the end of the maze and there's nowhere to go.

That made NO sense!!

one , because there is no minus for a movie
joebobpoker20 September 2022
There is not a minus for a movie you watch. So , i have to say some bad stuff Awful story, awful writing awful looking at it. All the while like when it gave ending credits at the beginning I knew that it was because the producers knew nobody would watch till the end to see the credits. I did watch till the end , but my wife did my wife did not. Oh and BTW writer , I may be the only person to know the last line by Rose was referring the whole deal to Stephen King. Does not help at all.

One reason I watched till the end was to see the end because of the terrific acting done by the two main actors. The Dad and especially the Son , However even the good acting by those two did not make the movie worth watching , nothing could BUT , it was enough to showcase the good acting of these two actors. So to the general public I say , do not waste your time. If you are looking for two good male actors for a movie you are making , you must watch the movie , because you just might want these two to try out for the part. The female lead wasn't too bad either. Just not much of her in the movie.

Watch out for the lobster people!
murfit17 October 2021
Extremely low budget, but inspired and entertaining. At times I felt reminded of Gaiman's Neverwhere, and there's also some part 12 Monkeys.

Writer / director Dennis Curlett also plays the protagonist's sidekick from the future, and in this role carries the movie. I can't wait to see more of his work.

Another brick in the wall: love child
compugor5 November 2022
Daddy's flown across the ocean; Leaving just a memory.

Snapshot in the family album; Daddy what else did you leave for me?

Daddy, whatdja leave behind for me?!?

AlL in all it was, just a brick in the wall.

All in all it was all, just bricks in the wall.

You think that I don't feel love, but what I feel for you is real love; In other's eyes I see reflected; a hurt, scorned, rejected Love child, never meant to be. Love child, born in poverty.

Love child, never meant to be; Love child, take a look at me.

I started my life in an old, cold run down tenement slum My father left, he never even married mom I shared the guilt my mama knew So afraid that others knew I had no name.

Interesting film just expected a bit more on its conclusion
darrenforster9925 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It was a reasonably good film that kept to gripped all through wondering if they were going to find out what was going on.

But then it got to about four minutes before the end and I wondered how are they going to finish this in such short time.

It was a very abrupt ending and you were left wondering did he get out of the paradox by going through the doors, were the lobster people his wife referred to the ones that had been killing people all along, was his wife indeed a time traveller herself?? Or was he still in the paradox? You so thought all the way through him and his son were going to solve the puzzle... But then it just ended - could really do with a paradox lost 2 to explore what happens to him and his wife going forward. Are they in a totally different timeline with lobster people, does he ever get back to the correct time line??

love finding movies like this
jaredgoestothemovies7 October 2021
I watch everything. Mostly on Plex. Love when I find something like this. Weird and small and definitely low budget but also lots of imagination and cool. If low budget stuff isn't your thing then maybe not this one but I love stumbling onto weird stuff like this made with obvious passion. Reminded me of an even smaller Safety Not Guaranteed.

It's fairly good, but it's absolutely not a comedy
larrywest42-610-61895711 October 2022
I can't imagine who put the "comedy" label on this: there are a few amusing touches, but overall it's a drama with sci-fi roots.

The characters are well-acted - especially the three leads (also the improv leader and others).

The Barnaby character (played by Danny Cymbal) is irritating but that's exactly right for the story.

Similarly, I was initially underwhelmed by the Copper character but gradually realized he was played quite well (by Dennis Curlett).

Rose is a more sympathetic character and thus easier to appreciate, but there is some great subtlety in how Clarissa Thibeaux portrays her.

Oh, and the story, while not mind bending, is above average for time travel flicks, and doesn't get mired in mechanics or explanations.

And - as someone who gets irritated by background music fairly easily - I want to add that here it qas perfectly tuned to the film, such that I rarely even noticed it (this is meant as a high compliment).

It's not exactly art, but it is another original indie gem
justahunch-705496 July 2023
The more I get into streaming the more I drift away from Hollywood movies and seek out these little oddities. Some are dreadful, though you usually can tell right away when you stumble across one of those, but some are original delights. Watched one the other day called Cosmos that was amazingly well made for a pennies. This here is yet another very original, very creative, very odd and for me, at least, very enjoyable. It's about time travel and a son who comes back to visit his father who are about the same age when they meet. This is also about the complications of time travel if one tries to change something. The two actors, Danny Cymbal & Dennis Curlett, are both very good, but especially Curlett who is also the writer and director of this funny little movie and he is the funniest thing in it. He had me in stitches many times in the early part of this film. He behaves and responds in ways that are so unpredictable. This is a very talented and creative guy who I hope to see more of in the future. Like most of these miniscule budgeted Indies this has its ups and downs and there are some drawbacks, but mostly it's all about trying something different. Bravo! Keep it up. This also has a really cool ending.

A time travel movie obsessed with improv. Reminded me of when I was deep into the Austin improv scene in my 20s. Very dreamlike.

I wish more movies felt this way. Trippy and fun. Started off thinking it was one kind of movie and then it just turns. Definitely indie but also made me laugh. The kind of movie that makes you wanna make movies. Recommend!

Funny micro-budget time travel movie with heart
sstood6 October 2021
I love small movies. Love to see if the filmmakers can keep me engaged with just their story. This one obviously was made on a thin budget but it had lots of humor heart and imagination. Did you know that 75 percent of all homeless people were actually just time traveler's waiting to start their missions?

Best Ever Indie
marqdr11 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I loved this movie! Maybe I was high on the Matcha tea I drank or that I'm such a big fan of improve but I thought this low budget indie was awesome. I told all of my friends to watch it and am waiting on their reviews to see if they agree.

Always watch the cake for paradox changes. Also watch the cast credits to who Brian P. Arnold played.

The time traveler is also the writer/director and the best played part in the movie. He should get many rewards for this one or maybe he already has.

Also called tem·por·al par·a·dox . (in science fiction) a hypothetical contradiction of cause-and-effect within a timeline that results from traveling back in time, as in the bootstrap paradox or the grandfather paradox.

Sometimes par·a·dox of time .Physics, Thermodynamics. The contradiction between the concept of time in quantum physics, according to the theory of relativity, where processes are time-symmetric and reversible, and the concept of time in thermodynamics, according to the second law of thermodynamics, where processes have a direction and are irreversible.

Moviedog2715 October 2021
I don't know a ton about improv other than Whose Line Is It Anyway but didn't feel that I needed to for this movie. I thought it was a really enjoyable watch and really well made. The story was great and I really enjoyed the acting. Loved the 'cake test'!

Independent, Artistic and Great!
annwalker-206684 February 2022
If you want to see something truly original, and highly entertaining, this is it! I generally don't like sci-fi, but this film has changed my mind. It has a great story line that complimented the quirky, out of the box time travel. I'd love to see what this writer/director/actor could do with a bigger budget, because this was a feat!

If you want to support independent art, this is a great film that will keep you guessing and smiling. It is beautifully shot and you can't miss how clever the whole thing is! Very well done, I'd love to see it get all the attention it deserves.

Glad I found this hidden gem!
elizabethcaponigro21 November 2021
I love a good comedy but I'm personally not a big sci-fi fan. With that being said, I loved this film!!! And as funny and unique as this film is (you won't find anything like it out there), it was surprisingly very heartfelt! The relationship between copper and Barnabys was especially touching, and I loved the originality behind this film. We'll done!

Fun and yummy
alexwtrugs27 October 2021
This is a good movie. It's inventive, the acting is good, it's well-written, and the story is unique.

Mr. Curlett is a visionary and a deeply handsome man. I want a beard like his. I'm won't be surprise'd if he win an Oscars.

Worth Watching.

THE BEST TIME TRAVEL MOVIE .....ever!
stortondancenog20 March 2022
Move over Primer - this has just overtaken you as my favorite Time Travel movie ever. Whereas Primer excelled with its complexity forcing multiple viewings, Paradox Lost takes a more comprehensible direction and is all the better for it.

Where Paradox shines is with the acting of the cast: In particular Dennis Curlett is pure perfection and relationship of 3 main characters is absolutely believable and a joy to watch.

No spoilers here because i don't want to ruin anyone's experience of the movie - i will say that it is extremely low budget but it's no less impressive for it, it is a time travel movie but it is not complicated.

I want to start a campaign for Paradox Relost or Paradox Found to be greenlight as a saquel.
