Alberto Luppo is a Brazilian writer who has been living in Paris for many years and has since renounced his tropical origins. It is only after a renowned French anthropologist goes missing in Minas Gerais that he feels compelled to go back to his country in order to conduct an investigation into the whereabouts of his old friend. However, throughout his journey and amid fear and enchantment, he surrenders to fate and the charms of Bethania who helps him rediscover the beauty of his own identity, which he used to despise so much: the Brazilian people and their culture.
