Fun family film
BandSAboutMovies11 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
15-year-old Nolan (Sloane Morgan Siegell) has discovered a secret family legacy. Where you or I may get some china or nice silver, Nolan gets a portal that enables him to travel to parallel worlds.

It's not all good. That's because an entity named Evil is chasing him through those timelines, included the one he's stuck in right now. It's Christmas, he has an older sister that doesn't exist in any other dimension and he realizes that unless he gets her on his side quick, everyone may end up paying the price for his travels.

Directed by Cornelia Duryée - whose godmother and mentor was A Wrinkle in Time author Madeleine L'Engle - and written by J. D. Henning and Tallis Moore, this film is family-friendly with some dark moments from its villain.

New, Captivating Movie With So Many Twists And Turns And Never A Dull Moment
rannynm21 February 2022
Portal Runner is a new, captivating movie with so many twists and turns there is never a dull moment. Up-and-coming actors use an interesting plot to turn this film into a memorable one. Portal Runner has the potential to become a fan favorite.

The film Portal Runner follows a young boy, named Nolan (Sloane Morgan Siegel), who was living a perfectly normal life, until he discovered a portal to other worlds. When he realizes that he is actually being targeted by an evil force, he ends up on the run, going between parallel worlds. With the help of his sister Mae (Elise Eberle), he must try to stop the evil force before it's too late.

Something that impressed me in this film is the way the tone matches the plot and the different scenes. Director Cornelia Duryee clearly knows exactly what she wanted this film to look like, and conveys it precisely. In the scene where Nolan is being chased by the evil force, it is dark and the music grows increasingly intense. When watching, the audience feels the same kind of fear that the characters are feeling. It has a small cast and that actually benefits this particular film as the scenes seem more intimate and it's easier for the audience to understand the dialogue. The actor that really stands out for me is Elise Eberle who plays Mae, Nolan's sister. She is very versatile character; she is sly, rebellious, scared, angry and lovable at different points of the film. Elise Eberle's performance definitely delivers that. Portal Runner is a movie that will entice you to watch it multiple times, especially if you're a sci-fi fan and like time travel related films.

The main message is that sometimes you need to sacrifice things in order to help the people you care about. There are lots of times when Nolan and Mae want to focus on themselves and what they want, but they eventually come to terms with the fact that their family needs them more.

I rate Portal Runner 4.5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 11 to 18, plus adults. Portal Runner releases on VOD December 10, 2021. By Maica N., KIDS FIRST!

A very Engaging Film

Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed watching this film, the story has great build up, there are times when I felt at the edge of my seat with what might happen next, and it was cool to see Sloan Morgan here.

I have only seen him in one other show and Portal Runner really showed his skill with playing other character types.

Although I think this was excellently written, with good storyline and acting I must admit I was quite heartbroken and a little unsatisfied with how the movie ended. Not that I am criticizing how they ended it exactly, I understand an authors desire to end with the alure of future possibilities, and the end left enough hints for me to imagine there was a happy solution after the end of the film.

So overall, I really enjoyed it, and I think I will purchase a hard copy too.

Worth the time.

This was a fun movie which made me wanting more. The acting was great and it had a great juxtaposition between its horror, and its comedic beats sprinkled throughout the film.

This is definitely a great young adult horror film. Kudos to the makers for their lack of unwanted profanity and over the top violence.

My only critical hits on the film is the odd soundtrack, and the desire to have more explained in the story. The film felt very short as if the plot could continue on.

It is obviously an independent film. But for what it was, I give it high praise. I have seen all the other actors excluding Elise Eberie, in other works and I love them all. I'm glad to see Sloane Morgan Siegel starting to mature in his acting roles, and I will never miss a project starring or Co-Starring actor Brian S. Lewis.

Keep up the good work everyone.
