A poignant drama about grief
fall198222 February 2021
This is a very nuanced portrayal of grief that is really poignant. With astute observations about depression, feeling lost in life, memory and acceptance. The sad news is that after an excellent first season, creators could not find a way to move the story in a meaningful way. So the second season doesn't pack the same punch as the first one.

However, its a real shame that a smart drama about adults dealing with everyday life somehow feels groundbreaking in 2021.

Accurate Portrayal of Grief by a Talented Cast
Dags8321 October 2018
I'm a few episodes in and have really connected with this show so far. I lost my fiancé suddenly a little while ago and Elizabeth Olsen does a fine job portraying what that kind of grief looks like. It's angry, selfish, irrational and completely valid, and you feel her pain throughout. It's a thoughtful and therapeutic show that takes the viewer on an unglamourous emotional journey - worth the watch if you're going through something similar or want to better understand someone who is.

I really liked it!
adboukhair-0558215 February 2021
I started it yesterday and finished it 40 minutes ago, I really liked it, I wish it would continue! I love Elizabeth Olsen and that was the main reason I started watching the series, but I really enjoyed the show and really liked the portrayals.

Best show I've seen in a long time!
magicmaxi9 October 2018
Wow, I didn't expect the show to be this good! I really liked everything I heard of it before and am huge fan of Elisabeth Olsen's indie-movies but was a bit skeptic since it's a Facebook Watch show. I thought they would start with a big blockbuster show and probably ruin the nuances such a show could have. But I was so wrong! Fantastic acting, writing and storytelling!

I hope this show will get all the big audiences it deserves. And that the Emmys and Golden Globes don't overlook it, just because it's not on a big network, cable channel, HBO, Netflix, Amazon or Hulu... Its definitely price worthy.

Incredible Show
southall-0040527 October 2018
Some may not find this show interesting, I've seen some reviews that reflect that. I am chiming in to inform you that this show is not about back to back plot twists, and crazy developments. If that's what you're looking for, you won't find it here and you shouldn't go much further. However, if you are at all interested in the human condition, this is a story for you. It's more than just her going through the motions, it is telling their story. You learn about what happened, what lead up to the lead up to the death of Matt. You come face to face with real life obstacles that a widow faces and the complications that arise along the way. This story is about human connection and the struggles of a widow truly mourning her husband. Elizabeth did an incredible job in this performance, and I felt every moment of it. This story inspired me and this story inspired my own writing and I refer anyone I know to it. It's ten episodes, by the end of it you will be able to figure out how you feel about it for yourself. I hope you enjoy it as I did.

Kind of an ironic turn of events
thelunaticbahar9 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Starting the show I was a little worried this too was gonna be one of those stories about a person who loses their spouse and is really sad for a while but then falls in love with someone else and gets well and full of life again. So glad it wasn't!

It's funny how Leigh was telling Jules that she's waiting for the next crazy thing like a tsunami or something in the last few minutes of the last episode, and then in the real world, just a few months later 2020 and a pandemic came in and messed up the whole world and on its way it eventually caused the series to get cancelled as well.

She was having yet another major breakdown in the last scene and we will never see her getting better.

It's crazy, it felt too real.

Great show
jules_dhs15 October 2018
I thought Elizabeth Olsen did a wonderful job. Some of it is incredibly sad but it is but so beautifully handled. I saw someone commenting that nothing happened, which just isn't true, it's not a fast paced show but that is the point. I hope there is a season 2

A really great and interesting show.
calimonesergio3 May 2019
Grief is one of those human conditions which movies and television in particular, often seem awkward to deal with. But then, many many people find grief deeply awkward to deal with - whether it's your own grief or someone else's. What can surprise people is the anger which can accompany grief.

So poignant and moving
siroisn11 November 2018
I so believe everyone should watch this show as it gives such a glimpse into depression, death, loss and the human condition. As a person who doesn't totally understand how depression can overwhelm someone, I am constantly seeking understanding as people around me suffer from depression and anxiety. The gentle unveiling of the story is so powerful and emotional.

It's a beauty
nero-332807 April 2021
Watching this series was amazing .. I've managed to finish 2 seasons in 1 day .. Elizabeth Olsen was amazing .. She needs to have more Dramatic roles in the future.

The way that grief was expressed by each character was simply amazing.

I feel like 30 minutes each episode 10 episode a season and only two seasons are just perfect.

Highly recommend that everone watchs it.

It's simply how life is.

BEST SHOW EVER
lorerdgzzst18 July 2021
I can't believe they canceled after two good and wonderful seasons. Seriously this is the type of show y'all need to watch its just pure excellent, the performances, script, storyline, EVERYTHING is so good. I wish this was on another plataform because IS FREE everyone has this show at their fingertips and it's still very underrated. Elizabeth Olsen deserved an emmy for her performance as Leigh Shaw.

I really enjoyed the first season. I recently lost a loved one, and it was refreshing to watch real grief. I loved how it was written, how it was filmed, and how it was edited.

Heart wrenching from the 1st minute!
nicelacar23 October 2018
Elizabeth Olsen's raw pain is palpable. The story line is sad but incredibly well performed by the whole cast. I watched it from episode number 1 to 10 in one day. I could not stop. I also cried almost the entire time. Anything that has me that keeps me that emotionally attached throughout the entire season is definitely a 10 star watch. I have and will continue to suggest this show to anyone who will listen. GREAT JOB!!!!

Raving Reviews?
jimbbb-14 January 2023
I don't know where the raving reviews came from, I don't want to be negative about the other reviews but I really can understand what they saw that I didn't. I saw a couple that said best show ever and others on how it made them cry. What I saw was uninspired acting. The writing wasn't terrible but it just wasn't good acting. I really like Elizabeth Olsen and Mamoudou Athie, they just didn't cut it here. I'm thinking the director just didn't ask enough from them.

I think a lot of us have been in the same situation one or more times in our lives. From the reviews I was really expecting some gut wrenching drama but the only time I even got a little emotional was when they had to put their dog down. Throughout the series I kept asking myself if I even cared about any of the characters. Sounds cold, I know. I promise I'm not a cold person I probable get choked up more than the average person when watching TV or movies. It's just that Sorry for you loss fell way short.

Depression & Suicide
yada212115 July 2020
This is an amazingly touching show. Elizabeth Olsons's very best performance, in my opinion, because she made it feel like her own personal experience. This is Dacron what a great actor is supposed to do. Right? Make it seem so real. Hers is a story about those left behind to deal with a loved one dealing with depression. We all want to fix those we care about when they can't fix themselves. Whether it is an addiction, or mental illness that cannot be fixed, the experience is so bad for the other person too because they feel totally helpless. For those of us who feel we can't stand by and let someone suffer, losing them is devastating. We all want to have a "live happily ever after" Outcome. But, sadly, that is not always possible. Because it involves a loved one, it is especially hard when there isn't a happy ending. Or, becomes just a momentary bad moment in an otherwise happily ever after.

I don't usually watch shows like this.
abdullahsohail-2412114 June 2021
The only reason I watched this show is because I absolutely love Elizabeth's character in the MCU so I wanted to watch some of her other work. The first 20 minutes had me really bored and I forced myself to watch till the end of the first episode because my experience is that many slow-paced shows get really good after you get through the initial introduction. I was right!

I loved this show so much and got through it all in one day even though this would be a slow watch for many people. The attention to all characters except the main is amazing and Elizabeth is amazing in this. I would say this show deserves a 9.0 rating overall!

I would recommend you watch few episodes by yourself because they're relatively short and decide if you like it or not. The people who like the show like me really love it and the ones who don't like it absolutely hate it so the ratings are off but you should decide for yourself :D The show is absolutely amazing with phenomenal performances and has amazing writing plus pacing.

Real
rich-35-26048415 August 2021
I don't have too much to say other than the fact, this story and the way it's portrayed feels very real. There is no sensationalism or scandal, it's art imitating life in the best way.

I've never seen Elizabeth Olsen act before and I am in awe of the character she brought to life. I don't like repeating myself, but it came off as (real).

I'm only halfway through season one. I accidently found out about this series via the Jimmy Fallen Show. I'm so glad I did!

Sorry for your time if you watch this!!!!
Fonz84 October 2018
I was super excited for this show then I realized about 3 or 4 episode in that every episode drags on with NOTHING at all. I couldn't believe the greatest Elizabith Olsen is a part of this awful show. What a shame. No story. No suprises. No drama. No reason to watch any more. Sush a bad start for Facebook streaming service! What a waste of time!!

Excellent show!
TheVicto24 November 2023
I just finished the last part and I feel really sorry there will be no 3th season :( It made me smile, it made me laugh and also cry. I like also the characters of Leigh and Jules and also their mom and Danny. They choosed very good actors. What I didn't like was the absolutely, absolutely no chemistry between Leigh and Matt. That two actors absolutely didn't fit together. U saw them like husband and wife and u thought well...no! Matt would really more fit with Nina. But the chemistry between Danny and Leigh was excellent. I really wish there will be 3 season too. I'd like to know how it all ends. Will Leigh stay with Danny? Will her mom find her own happiness? Will Jules stay happy? It would be nice to know. For me 10 of 10! :)
