Truly epic episode

Wow, what a ride this episode was. The pacing was just great. I especially liked the scene when Buddy told the perfecty fitting story with the message of not falling apart just yet to Wendy. Awesome season so far!

The Most Intense Episode Yet!

Warning: Spoilers
With Bateman in a lot of troubles it all gets worst when Ruth is taken by the FBI in a trap so the cartel doesn't trust her and they toture her as hell, while the old man burns all the amapolas. The acting and the script of this epsiode were awesome!

A very entertaining show

Half way through the second season now. The first season was really surprisingly good. The second season thus far is even better. A lot of shows suffer the sophomore let down but this show has gotten better. The characters are interesting due to great writing and acting.

Ozark season 2 has me addicted. The way each family / stakeholder story becomes intertwined is incredibly layered and proves that this show is binge worthy!

My Favorite Episode So Far
Oktay_Tuna20 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This episode has everything you would want from this show. Tension, drama, and most importantly the question of "What is going to happen next?". This episode has the vibe of a season finale even more than the episode "The Toll". In last season's finale there is (of course) tension but we all did know that Marty was going to find a way to work this out but now we don't know what will happen with Ruth, with Cade, with the kids, with Wilkes, with Snells(after what Buddy does) and with cartel. We kind of know Marty is going to pull this of too but at what cost?

Great episode and great show

I started watching Ozark a week ago and am totally hooked - halfway through season 2 already! This episode was intense, and I really enjoyed it. Just a couple of things that didn't sit that well with me: Agent Petty is a bit far fetched, I can't believe the FBI would condone such behaviour. Helen the Cartel lawyer is way more hands on than I think is believable. She literally had her hands on Ruth hustling her into her room for interrogation.

terrifying but good

Season 2, episode 5 of Ozark was one of the most insane mid-season episodes I've seen in a while. At times, it felt more like I was watching a penultimate episode rather than a halfway point. A lot happened, so let's dive right in. We start off with Wilkes' men breaking ground on Snell land, much to Darlene's chagrin. HOW is Jacob so patient with this mad woman? Cut to the Byrde home, where the feds are hard at work. They find Charlotte's stashed money, among other things. Petty is enjoying whole new levels of smugness here and Jonah recognizes his arrogant face in the window. At Lickety Splitz, Ruth tries to clean up what she can for Marty. Sam's worried, too. Petty keeps trying to break him, telling him that his family will be killed if he doesn't talk. For shock, Petty lays two bombs on Marty: Ruth tried to kill him once and Jonah pulled a gun on Petty in the woods. While Marty is surprised, at the news he keeps his cool and so does Helen. At home, Buddy and Wendy share a drink. He comforts her with kind words. Downstairs, the kids are trying to take care of themselves. Charlotte asks Jonah for some of the account money to buy a getaway van, but he holds out on her. At the Snells, Jacob brings a foster kid to Darlene, but she's not having any of it. Before tensions can get too high between them, a local official comes by to warn them that the feds may be after them next. Meanwhile, Helen and the Byrdes meet with the Snells to warn them about the feds. As per usual (this is getting kind of old, guys), Jacob and Darlene are offended at the cartel's involvement and insist they can take care of themselves. An infuriated Helen tells Marty that their poppy fields need to be destroyed by any means necessary. There is one easier alternative though: Darlene proposes that Wendy secure them a baby in exchange for the destruction of their fields. Wendy bucks at the idea of the Snells raising an innocent child. Petty is waiting for the Byrdes at their home. This time he's come for Wendy. He attacks her from all angles, suggesting that she's having an affair with Wilkes and even showing her and Marty the video with Silverberg. You can cut the gloating though, Petty- you won't break the Byrdes today. This episode's ending cuts back and forth between sabotage in action and sabotage being paid for. Buddy sets the Snell poppy fields up in flames. Action, not reaction. Meanwhile, Ruth is waterboarded by Helen, but she's one tough cookie. She survives the ordeal and proves herself true to the cartel. It's difficult to imagine where the season can go from here. With so much going on, I fear we've topped out. Can Ozark keep up this intense pacing?

I have been an member for over 20 years and have never felt compelled to write a review until now. This a really good show and this is a great episode. I didn't realise how tense I was until the credits rolled. Strongest episode of the series.

Game Day
bobcobb30127 September 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I can't stand Helen or the actress portraying her, but she wasn't awful here. Have her make direct threats, not just potentially tease it.

The show is good, but it feels too unrealistic here. The FBI would not overplay their hand like this and desperately try to chase the Byrds while they are running an operation. They'd rather hide in the woods and catch them in the act.

I feel so bad for Americans

Warning: Spoilers
This show us really entertaining I'd give it 8 overall some episodes perfect others not that strong. I'm so tired of the inept alcholholic druggie police guys who are constantly portrayed, I mean this guy is an idiot, he's drugged and threatened murder on one witness, screwed another, probably not got warrants for bugs, constant entrapment, ignoring attempted murder just goes on and on, in a show you hate people mostly when they're playing the part we'll, he just isn't, comes across terribly, intimidating as a pillow, lying to lawyers about being a snitch, honestly ridiculous that if people spoke the case would be dead.

Bateman and Ruth save this show by constantly delivering top performances, I fell Rachel, Charlotte and Darlene are really poorly thought out characters who are just one extreme to another based on story needs, plus I'm sorry but Wendy again is a dreadful actress from looks not fitting in to the arrogance and self rightcious attitude.

The break of trust
belaidinazim-570605 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
We see in this episode that agent petty finally have something that enables him to search Marty's house which creates stress all over the place. Petty makes the most out of this situation and tells Marty that Ruth tried to kill him before, that was the domino that breaks all other dominos. Why is that? It's because that will break the trust in Ruth which breaks the cartel Confidence in her as well. So, they torture her to know if she is told anything to the FBI of course she didn't, that was just a setup by the agent. All of this resulted in doubt in everybody's intentions which is a big vulnerability.

On the other hand. Buddy tells a story that I think its one of the best I have heard.

Buddy Dieker: There was a French writer, long time ago - I can't remember his name. Well, I can't remember anybody's name. Anyway, he was old, for those days, and very sick, lungs and ticker all going, and he was stuck in bed. Now, this guy's a loner all his life. But he tells the lady taking care of him that he wants to see his friends, say goodbye. So, she sends out word, and all his friends come to his little hovel, gather around his deathbed, telling stories. And you know what happens?

Wendy Byrde: What happens?

Buddy Dieker: He doesn't die Buddy Dieker: And then after a couple days, the friends, well, they leave. They have lives. And then he dies. Sad, but sweet. Because, when you think you're gonna die yesterday, today is *sweet*. So, hang in, Wendy. Lose it tomorrow. Today's no day to fall apart.

And then he pushes Wendy to take action without the approval of Marty she tries to give Darlene a kid and allows buddy to burn those drug crops by himself. Which may cause a lot of problems going forward. Overall great episode that I expect it to open new grounds in the show.

The cartel?
dimeonmime30 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Show is becoming quite unrealistic at this point - the real cartel would've wasted anyone pass this point and not use the threats of some American lawyer.
