- A short film about the struggles of a 40-year-old actress and the problems she endures while auditioning, due to the fact that ageism, and how many followers you have, is a judgement for talent.
- This story is about Natalie, who's at a crossroads because she placed her life on hold. She turned 40-years-old and is "living the dream," in Hollywood. We start when Natalie first moved to Los Angeles in 1995. Pre-social media and instant gratification, when the Thomas Guide was the only map to find your way around town, and mobile phones were the size of bricks. There was a freshness in the air and we follow her into her first agent meeting then fast-forward to 20 plus years later. She's still pursuing her dream with very little reward and no payoff in sight.
She sees her therapist to help her figure it all out but she won't be honest with herself about her age and where's she at in her life. This looms heavily on her shoulders, yet she keeps marching forward to the beat of her own drum. She knows she's at an age that's a far cry from what Hollywood demands and where age discrimination, falls prey on many women. Everyone she encounters on her journey tells her what Hollywood considers to be "age appropriate," but it never makes any sense to her. Casting directors see her talent but can't seem to place her into an age appropriate role. She continues the hustle out of sheer stubbornness, refusing to throw in the towel and believes that one day her hard work will pay off and that her age won't matter.
How much more will she take. Audition after audition followed by rejection after rejection. When will something break within her. Could turning 40ish... push her to face the truth about her life and age, giving her the wakeup call she desperately desires.
