The Warriors: The Way Home (2005)

*** 1/2 (out of 4)

This here is an exceptionally entertaining look at the making of Walter Hill's THE WARRIORS, which clocks in at a total of 62-minutes and is broken into four different parts: The Beginning, Battleground, The Way Home and The Phenomenon. THE BEGINNING talks about, as you'd guess, the start of the production as the idea for the movie took off after one of the producers came across the book. From here we get into the locations being picked as well as the cast coming on board. BATTLEGROUND takes a closer look at the filming of the movie and we get a lot more technical background including the cinematography. THE WAY HOME takes a look at the costumes, the sets and various plot details about the gang trying to make it back home. Finally, THE PHENOMENON goes over the end of filming, the editing and the results at the box office.

If you're a fan of THE WARRIORS then you're going to really enjoy this documentary, which covers every aspect of the production and has interviews with most of the main cast members, the producers, editors and of course Hill himself. There are a lot of great stories told about the production of the movie and we also get to see an alternate opening sequence. The cast members tell some very good stories about their memories of the film as well as their thoughts on the fact that the film has still got a big following.
