    Pretty flawless for the genre

This break-up film is great because it has everything: it's a little bit sad, as it should be, but also has funny moments, portrays real situations and friendships, shows personal growth and the main focus is NOT to replace the man for another - let's face it, this would've ended differently if it'd been made in the 1990s -, it has representativity without making a big deal about it, and it's overall designed to be a feel-good film. Oh, and the soundtrack is also pretty good.

    It's beautiful

I am confused by all the negative ratings. I think anyone who has experienced true heart break can appreciate this movie. This film showcased a beautiful love, the ups and downs, the hardships and choices that happen when two people share their love together, and then ultimately, the end. No it isn't your typically happy ending film, but the love between these two was special, and the relationship between these three girls, well it's what we all want. People in our corner, who support us, and hold us up when we need it.

    With friends like these!

I loved the premise of this movie. Having such strong women support each other through some of the lows in life is truly what friendships especially women's friendships are about. I love Gina she's the reason I watched this film and Brittney Snow and when I saw Lakeith omgggggg done! Such an awesome cast. Yes it's a bit predictable, yes it's not full of a lot of surprises but aren't all romcoms somehow very similar. All of that is easily pushed aside and you can enjoy the story of this film. Plus the chemistry of the lead actors is so genuine you can tell they are friends outside the film. Last but not least the DIVERSITY!!! YESSS !!!!

I loved it and encourage you to watch it.

Buckle up, Buttercup. This one is an emotional roller coaster.

I thoroughly enjoyed Someone Great from start to finish. This movie really captures the emotional turmoil of both break-ups and transitioning from 20's to 30's. The chemistry between the actors, both romantically linked and platonic, was excellent. I was emotionally invested in the cornerstone relationship and keenly felt the highs and lows in their romance revisited through flashbacks. I was actually very impressed with how seamless the flashbacks felt. It was true to life, as far as when you see or hear something that brings a memory to mind. I felt Jenny's crippling sadness at the end of an era: her 20's in NYC, her comfortable proximity to her oldest friends, and the recent end of her long-term relationship. Her present is so comfortable and the future so uncertain. Her friends drop everything to be with her. They felt fully realized as characters and not just plot devices to help Jenny's story along. Even small side characters were really fleshed out. I laughed, I cried, I experienced a large portion of the emotional spectrum. This movie is one of the best I've seen in the vein of romance, in a very long time. It was a love letter to anyone who has had to face major life changes and struggled to cope. I really enjoyed it and it will probably be a movie I revisit regularly.

A break up story that can make you feel good

It's light, simple, and different. If you have been through a break up or even better (or worse? 😆) now are going through one, watch this. You'll find this movie very relatable.

The premise was intriguing, the girls performances were great. But imo, their years of friendship was not deeply explored. This is unfortunate, since the movie is emphasizing on their friendship.

    • Goofs
After Mikey tells them he doesn't have the tickets he'd promised, Jenny steals a bottle of booze as she and her friends leave his apartment. In the corridor pulls the cork out and spits it to the floor, but when they're outside walking on the pavement, the cork is back in the bottle.
    • Quotes

Jenny Young: Do you think I can have one more kiss? I'll find closure on your lips, and then I'll go. Maybe also one more breakfast, one more lunch, and one more dinner. I'll be full and happy and we can part. But in between meals, maybe we can lie in bed one more time. One more prolonged moment where time suspends indefinitely as I rest my head on your chest. My hope is if we add up the "one mores" they will equal a lifetime and I'll never have to get to the part where I let you go. But that's not real is it. There are no more one mores. I met you when everything was new and exciting, and the possibilities of the world seem endless. And they still are... for you, for me, but not for us. Somewhere between then and now, here and there, I guess we didn't just grow apart, we grew up. When something breaks, if the pieces are large enough, you can fix it. Unfortunately sometimes things don't break, they shatter. But when you let the light in, shattered glass will glitter. And in those moments when the pieces of what we were catch the sun, I'll remember just how beautiful it was. Just how beautiful it'll always be. Because it was US. And we were magic. Forever.
