Screaming for IMAX presentation but resigned to enthralling you from your seat on the sofa, the wondrous "Idaho From Above" introduces us to the breathtaking beauty of one of America's least trafficked physical landscapes, and it does it with the utmost respect and artistic care these gorgeous environs could reasonably ask from its filmmakers.
Featuring an aerial-only perspective collected from helicopters with specialized high-resolution cameras, this is a thoroughly engrossing and intensely visual film, and one that circuitously reaffirms our American patriotism -- if not for the arguments we have, then for the serenity and richness of the soil we share. Majestic pines knife skyward through the mist. Canyons and mountains showcase twisting rivers we don't always find running through our corporate break rooms and high-rise apartments. If you can't put yourself out in the heavens of nature, this film will get you unusually close.
It probably goes without saying that inspired scenic presentations can almost always just as easily be watched with the resident Mute button pressed.
