Oh damn, oh damn, OH DAMN.
barisunver2 April 2018
Even though it would be a lot nicer to see other stars of the show, this was (without a doubt) the best episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Literally the best episode of B99
serdeatalay25 May 2019
I just watched this episode once again (for the third time) following the end of Season 6, and my mind has not changed (it probably never will): This is the best episode of B99. No doubt. One of the most cleverly written and well-acted episodes I have ever seen in my life and I don't mean just the episodes of this show, I mean all the shows that I've watched so far. Just amazing.

Andre Braugher Back in The Box
jameskaufman3 April 2018
This was the best episode in a long time. The focus was on only three characters and all were great. Andre Braugher used to excel at interrogating suspects in Homicide. He loved "The Box" and I enjoyed seeing him in that role again.

Loved this

One of the show's most unique episodes. In an epsiode without subplots, the full focus is on Holt and Peralta as they spend the entire time interrogating a suspect. Sterling K. Brown plays the guy and is delightfully cunning. Holt and Perralta have always had great chemistry together and here the jokes fly fast and furious.

Sterling K. Brown's Guest Appearance is Superb!
lcm-206247 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
On the most recent episode of the series, Brooklyn Nine-Nine departed from featuring its quirky ensemble cast and focused on a single marathon interrogation conducted by Detective Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) and Captain Raymond Holt (Andre Braugher). The result was brilliant comedic interplay between Samberg and Braugher enhanced by the riveting performance of Sterling K. Brown.

This episode was a darn good one!

Warning: Spoilers
Some people may disagree, for there isn't a B plot it is just Peralta and Holt interrogating a man that they think murdered a fellow employee. I loved the dynamic of Peralta and Holt in this episode, they both know he did it but he beats them at every turn. There also a part where it furthers Jake's feelings toward Holt as a father/mentor just wanting to him to see how good of a detective he is. All in all a fantastic episode with some quite funny laughs and call back, as soon as you get the chance watch this episode. It is available on hulu as of April 2nd 2018.

Stellar episode

This is such a masterpiece of an episode, absolutely superb performances by the cast and a special guest appearance of Sterling K. Brown. He was fantastically spot on. One of, if not the best episode of the show.

I would give it 11 stars if I could

Andy Samberg. Andre Braugher. Serling K. Brown. With their very different acting styles, characters & storylines, these three men have come together to create the best episode of the entire series. Fast-paced jokes, terrific on-screen chemistry and a unique style make this one of the best half-hours of television. Do yourself a favor & watch it a few times, it only gets better the second time around.

Brilliant episode.

Almost vintage Homicide Life on the Streets with a few extra laughs.

Had to go and relive a Pendleton interogation after finishing this episode.

Best episode of the series

Warning: Spoilers
While this show is very good, it does seem to be a little too safe in my opinion, for a cop show. Most of their decisions don't have many consequences and the villains and bad guys never seem menacing or like they pose any danger. This bottle episode fixes many of those problems. This is the best possible way that B99 could have pulled off a bottle episode, with it's two most interesting main characters, making good choices that effect the rest of the episode. For a while, it seems that Sterling K. Brown's character might actually come out on top in this episode, but he doesn't, which is fine. The humor in this episode, with Samberg, Braugher, and SKB bouncing off each other, was very well done and written. Overall, the two best aspects of this episode are the acting and writing. The writing comes through with an interesting plot that has us wanting more. The acting in this episode is some of the best of the series. Samberg deserves an Outstanding Lead Actor nomination for this episode, Braugher deserves an Outstanding Supporting Actor nomination, and Sterling K. Brown deserves a nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor, either for this or for his great Saturday Night Live episode. Overall, this episode was very, very good and my favorite of the series.

The Box

Warning: Spoilers
Not a Sterling K. Brown fan, but I have to say this episode had me laughing than most B99 episodes usually do. I like the centralized premise and I like the outrageous antics from Holt and Peralta to get that confession.

I like how amidst all the stupidity they usually make Jake be a good detective as well.

Worst episode of the series
anghellickarma14 September 2018
Warning: Spoilers
You know how, when you are watching a series for a long time, you eventually get to an episode that makes you wonder why they did it, and feels like it's just spinning their wheels? Welcome to "The Box."

The entire format of this show's previous episodes (dating back 5 years) is thrown out the window so only two cast members are shown interrogating a suspect all night. That's it; that's all there is to it. There is no supporting cast, and the humor is misplaced considering the episode's primary focus is the interrogation. Nothing is advanced here; this entire episode could easily be skipped and you'd never even know.

Hopefully, it gets better from here on out and returns to form. The charm of this show is its characters and the interaction between them all.

A series highlight
Fa_B9920 January 2019
"The Box" is by far the best episode of Brooklyn 99. The plot moves with an incredible pace and the three characters interact effortlessly with each other . Despite the quite dramatic set-up (there was a murder, the perp needs to confess, the story takes place almost exclusively in an interogation room) without any of the usual "99-shenanigans" the episode is absolutely hilarious, one comedic moment follows another one. Props to Andy Samberg, Andre Braugher and Sterling K. Brown. The latter recieved an Emmy-Nomination for his work. "The Box" being the best episode on B99 so far, I hope we get more episodes like this one in the future.

BEST EPISODE OF BROOKLYN 99. And mind you I love this series, and every episode is good, but this one was a perfect combination of comedy and crime. Only 3 actors share the screen for most parts and yet it was such an engaging, interesting episode. Even though I missed the rest of the crew, I'm not complaining. Jake Peralta once again proves he's a smort ass!
