Expected better
knightkp30 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
He needs Richard, they had chemistry. The mechanics he has all claim they owned their own shops but must not have been all that good because they are working for someone else now, they are trying to,be funny but seem like they are just regurgitating what they rehearsed just before the cameras started rolling. Go back to GM or find better folks to work with Aaron. The builds are boring and I would not feel comfortable having my F100 in the shop with that crew.

What's the point of all this ?
n-m-bertin23 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Nothing really happens in this show. They take 3 to 4 episodes for just ONE project. And the projects aren't really interesting. A show is like a joke : if you don't understand the premise, you don't care and the result isn't fun. Here apparently Aaron is building immensely expensive cars and trucks, only to use them for sports, recruited some talented mechanics, and doesn't even sell the cars. Where does the money come from ? How can this be a profitable business ? The shop he has is bigger and with more tools than the one at Gas Monkey ! How is it possible ? I understand the fact that Aaron wants to build cars for himself after building them relentlessly for Richard Rawlings for so long, but how is this a show ? This should never have been a spin-off in the first place. Aaron isn't as fun or funny as Richard, and the cars he makes are just one off toys, nothing like his Ford Falcon he raced to Pike's Peak for example. So don't bother watching it.

OK but not a keeper

Found nothing to keep me interested or entertained after watching a selection of episodes. I'd rather watch re-run's of gas monkey.

I wanted to like it but...
misternybble4 May 2018
Aaron is missing the magic or special sauce he had. The show is boring and he come across a jerk in some of the interviews between scenes. When I met him and Richard they were not friendly but I assumed that was time constraints but now that I've watched this show I see glimpses of the real Aaron and I just don't like him.

The show needs to focus on him leading the team with amazing machines doing all the things that Gas Monkey would have never let him do. The show is more self serving and indulgent on Aaron's hobbies.

Sorry Discovery, this show is a miss.

Different then other shows like it

There is no needless drama to deal with. I like how they take there time and just deal with the vehicles.

Poorly Developed Show in Desperate Need of a Complete Makeover
sueesponte11 April 2018
I so badly wanted to like, let alone love, this show. Unfortunately, it's grown increasingly painful to watch.

First, let's just get this out of the way: Aaron's mechanical skills and automotive genius are undeniable and, as the grounded counterpart to Richard on GMG, his personality balanced out the show's otherwise unfettered chaos of "get you some of that" and "whooooos." So, yes, Aaron's great. Nothing but love for the guy.

Second, and unfortunately, while GMG has soldiered on with other "characters" (I hate that term since we're talking about real people) who balance Richard's personality, (Actually, I've found that Richard has come off a bit more balanced himself this season. Is it just me?) and also bring suitable knowledge and expertise to the show, Aaron's new show lacks any excitement or personality. In fact, it lacks...anything. It's just kind of there...like watching oil changes at a Jiffy Lube.

I've struggled to make it through the first episodes. I've reached the point that I don't hit reverse when I accidentally fast forward a little too far beyond the commercials on my DVR.

The show has done nothing to develop our knowledge or "relationship" with any of Aaron's team -- who, apparently, do all of the work. They're unknown personalities to me. I'm sure they're all great guys but the production team doesn't give them the right kind of screen time. So, whereas we feel like we know the "monkeys," we have no idea who these guys are personality-wise. They're just presumably knowledgeable and undoubtedly dedicated and hardworking worker bees; at least as they're portrayed on the show.

It's also unclear what Aaron's shop actually does, other than build him vehicles under intense deadlines (something he allegedly detested while he was at GMG -- I guess bad habits are hard to break?) to check off items on his personal bucket list. They built him a truck to take to the desert (and it broke) so he could race in the desert because...well...race truck? I don't know. Then they built him a semi truck to race and it felt like more of the same pointless building by a team of people we still don't know. I got so bored watching the 2nd part that I fell asleep and opted to delete the episode rather than watch what I missed.

For what it's worth, I love shows like Wheeler Dealers (really, currently one of my favorites, actually). I even love the pace of the show, the cast (love Mike and Ant and I loved Edd) and the lack of glitz and chaos. So, before people start criticizing and dismiss my review as someone who just prefers a show with more puff (e.g., GMG) than a show about real mechanics like Aaron, that's just untrue. And, I'd also argue that there's more actual "mechanic" content in GMG and, certainly, Misfit Garage than this snoozer.

What it comes down to is that this show was poorly developed. From the opening credits (which pretend to be deep and badass, but somehow come off as cheesy and lazy) to the earlier of the end or the point in which I fall asleep each episode, it lacks excitement, motivation, interest, or character. It lacks purpose.

Great show. With meaning behind each build
Neileddy22 October 2018
I love this show. The way it has meaning behind each build & everyone is working towards a goal together. The guys all contribute & show their skills to good effect. I love that this show has & shows feelings of each individual & how it is not all about the cash or status it's just about getting the job done to the best of their ability within the timescale & showing each facet of the goal including training needed to get the skills to be able to complete that goal then the pure emotions released when the job is finished. Well done guys Keep it up.

Dull as dishwater
ben-1004011 October 2018
This is literally no fun at all, I'm actually beginning to wonder if Aaron has personality issues, either way this is not entertaining at all, I'll stick with wheeler dealers, even gas monkey garage is still much more entertaining. Sorry Aaron, I wanted to like this.

Different and better
chrischapman-4754518 April 2018
Some reviewers find this show boring but it's not meant to be Fast N Loud Mk2 with all its last minute bodging/corner cutting/histrionics. There is a more serious engineering content and it is more atmospheric and thankfully there is less annoying/intrusive heavy metal music. The interaction with the film crew is also different. What is noteworthy is how Aaron doesn't always get things right. I agree that it appears to make little business/commercial sense but I would give it time to develop since the format is actually quite novel.

Go back to gas monkey garage
far-490561 April 2018
I'm sorry but this show is boring. Does Aaron build any cars or is he trying to be just like Richard Rawlings. Misfit garage is better than this show.

I actually like this show.
cclaytoncc2 October 2018
I'm really tired of the fake drama on shows like Gas Monkey. As a car enthusiast I'd rather see the builds without BS. Is it perfect no but it's also a new show finding it's own style they always start rough. I'd rather watch this than the fake fabricated crap they are pitching now.

Couldn't you see when editing it that it sucks. The whole setup, rush build a bunch of vehicles you know nothing about and do a mediocre job, and play big cheese.

Kept my interest
lyd213128 April 2018
I like Aaron Kaufman's Shifting Gears show. I wasn't bored & it kept my interest because the builds are not basic. The show is what I expected & I like the fact that it's more mechanics then scripted drama. It feels authentic to me. I look forward to seeing more builds.

Something fresh
amileser24 April 2018
People need to stop comparing this to fast n loud, he was the head engineer and it's nice to see him actually do some engineering work. Not slamming hot rods and fitting off the shelf upgrades for once.

It's so unentertaining. Stopped watching mid first season. I just tried to watch the second season and just can't. It's so lack luster it hurts. PLEASE go back to fast and loud.

I like the show
mwjackso-1479221 April 2018
After reading other reviews I believe I am in a minority. What I like about the show are the details in each of the builds. To date they have been different from the cars built on Fast and loud. Aaron explains things very well from the build to the application of the vehicle. I hope to see season 2 at some point.

Totally different show to Fast n Loud!
ross-421-15729817 November 2019
Liked the show as it's totally different to Fast n Loud (which i like too), longer builds with more detail & an end goal much like Aaron's Falcon build attempt for Pikes Peak.

Can be quite dry at times & wish Aaron was more involved in the work as opposed to his 'monkeys' but they are interesting creations.

tomsturm-683667 October 2018
I honestly tried to watch the show it is so freaking boring the latest one I watched building a rally car what a freaking joke just for him on the next episode to wreck it I really do not get the show it is pointless I gave it one star because I feel sorry for the mechanics that have to work for him they could be doing something else with their wonderful Talent I give the mechanics 10 Stars except for the welding on the cage of the rally car yes it needs to be 360 Degrees every one of them standard textbook

The show is all about aaron and his racing.it should be about building street and show vehicles which he is good at doing. some older f150 builds would also be nice.if not this show will fail.
