I'm a firm believer in completing a franchise however bad it may start. Doing this with the Witchcraft (1988) series of 16 films nearly killed me!
This is the third and final movie in the Diary of a Demon series. They are tiny budget independent films that come under the found footage anthology category.
Though they have a few good ideas here and there overall they are really poor. From the shoddy sfx, lack of originality and same cast multiple times over each time playing different characters (In the same film).
To this third parts credit the sfx have improved quite a bit and sprinkled in there are a few good ideas.
Sadly that's all that it has going for it, all the same problems from the first two movies are present and it makes for really hard watching.
Sadly once again nothing is explained and you're left scratching your head. The stories across all three movies are seemingly connected but we're seeing demons, zombies, ufo's, vampires and everything in between. This movie also has blatant ripoffs from both The Ring (2002) and Saw (2004)
I'm not saying the cast and crew are clueless, but they should drop this found footage anthology stuff as it clearly isn't working for them and maybe focus on a single feature movie. One with you know............consistency and maybe a plot?
The Good:
SFX have improved
Couple of interesting ideas
The Bad:
"The Ring" scene was dumb
Sounds effects over found footage, beyond stupid
Very little makes any sense
Things I Learnt From This Movie:
I think I may be a movie masochist, that's a thing right?
