The Opposite of Funny
tarynstoklasa4 May 2020
Cringe worthy, unfunny sitcom. It baffles me how Peter Helliar is still in tv. Don't waste your time on this one. Lisa McCune must have been paid a lot of money for this one, there's no other reason she's sign up.

Dear Lord... this is beyond horrible
doracumexplora18 May 2020
This is what Australian TV has come to?! Peter Hellier started out on Rove's show and has somehow become now an ACTOR?! Funny concept but not cast well to execute. This is beyond horrible and can't believe is made... another show that makes aussies look like we can't produce anything good

Worth a look for all parents out there
hughesey-1143130 December 2018
Probably a type of subtle humour that most parents will understand and respond to. Hellyer and McCune do a great job portraying the life of busy parents!

Truly awful
deanfergie18 May 2020
Oh god... . It starts with the main character proposing to his girlfriend in a toilet whilst she is suffering from diahorrea. That's the level of humour we're working with. Even recycling (stealing) some of the great characters from Moody Christmas can't save this debacle of a series.

Does NOT deserve the hate.
mjweb64 June 2021
Sure, the first season wasn't the best, but this show in no way deserves the 1 reviews it's got. Season 2 is much funnier. The youngest daughter is very funny and her relationship with her mother's boss, played by Judith Lucy is incredible. It's not ground breaking or particularly intellectual, it's light hearted fun.

Love Peter Hellyer and Lisa McCune in this. I had a few laugh out loud moments and I don't normally laugh that easily! How can people not even crack a smile ??

Painful to watch
joc10120 June 2020
Painfully unfunny, save yourself some time and don't bother. Is it any wonder that Australian television is dead, when shows as poorly written as this are made.

Harmless fun
silkyheineken11 June 2020
Theres really nothing wrong with this harmless show that has some laughs but at least doesnt have any ott swearing or drama's or explosions etc. Everyone would know people in their lives that are similar to the characters in this show. I watch a ton of different shows and just find this refreshing in its simplicity and that its Australian. There isnt enough new Australian comedies out there atm.

Surprisingly decent

I've never been a fan of Peter Helliar or Lisa McCune, but I gave this show a try and enjoyed it. Humorous without being hilarious, but it's hard to warm to a few of the ancillary characters (Brad and the neighbours).

A comedic disaster
tomasgerasimidis8 June 2020
This show, marketed as "hilarious" and "relatable" is anything but. Unfortunately, rather than laughing along with the dialogue, acting, or ridiculously coincidental plot points, I found myself cringing. The only thing it was missing was a laugh track. While he is an alright stand up comedian, Peter Helliar's performance as an actor is pathetic, bland and un-watchable. Meanwhile, Judith Lucy could only wish she was Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly, and Lisa Mccune attempting to hold everything together is this show's closest thing to a saving grace. Everything about the show is one dimensional; How a second season was approved is beyond me.

Worse than bad, it's not funny

Seriously don't waste your time, if you're expecting a laugh. I'd rather clean the house than watch this show, at least I'd get some personal benefit from it.

Beyond lame
I'm surprised this show wasn't axed after the first episode. This is beyond lame on all levels. Very poor script, talent and quality. A new rock bottom.

Not worth watching
evilbear15 November 2018
Funny is not how I'd describe this show, not a single laugh at all. It is just so boring that there is no other words to describe this show other than BORING. I feel sorry for Lisa McCune who is a great talent but even she couldn't save this travesty

Crapola
inmysights19 June 2021
The only funny aspect to this show is that it's still being shoved in our faces on every commercial break and hasn't been cancelled.

I watched a couple of episodes and it's just.. bland. I don't find any humour to it and Judy Lucy's voice is enough to send you down a psychotic trip.

Just silly but not funny silly
petertmartin198713 June 2021
Watch the ads you'll see it's a stupid show with poor acting and sadly and not much to keep you interested. How Peter Hellier is considered a comedian is beyond me.

Lemon Juice Straight to the Eyes
daicos-4843820 April 2021
I have never written a review before, as I just leave a star rating instead, but i had to warn people before they embarked on the this series.

If you have a chance of spending 8 hours straight in the blistering sun, and wear no sunscreen, then that night you rub Vix vapour rub on your blistering skin, that will still be more enjoyable than this Australian comedy. Seriously, I felt embarrassed for Australian T. V and these actors.

Don't do it, it's just not worth hurting your eyes.

Ooof it's bad.
guitaradam200011 May 2021
Peter Helliar is certainly no Ricky Gervais, and that is highly evident from this series. There's no other words to describe this TV show, other than simply "boring".

I really struggle to find any joy in Helliar's comedy at the best of times, so maybe this show was really not really for me right from the get-go, as I struggled to crack a smile at any point during the handful of episodes I reluctantly sat through.

How... why???
doubt_it19 April 2021
It feels like a satirical take on comedy, exposing the flaws of the modern sitcom, but somehow it's not satire. It's almost at the point of anti comedy but again not intentionally. Australia seems to have an incredible knack for making absolutely abominable comedy series and this just brought the bar to a new low as hard as that is to believe. My jaw literally dropped the first time I saw this... people wrote this... people being paid for their writing ability wrote this... producers putting up large amounts of money were happy enough to sign off on these takes and decided to print them.
