unable to do justice
beevenkat30 April 2024
#IshqTera tries to narrate a different story; but sadly, director #JojoDsouza is unable to do justice to the script. The heroine, Hrishitaa Bhatt, has a traumatic past, hence as she grows older, she suffers from multiple personality disorder. Sometimes she is "Kalpana", a simple, loving, working mother. At other times, she is "Laila", who wears bright lipstick, visits bars and sleeps with random men. Her husband tries to cure her by altering his personality. The topic is intricate. If the film had been directed by someone more experienced and skilled, it would have been a worthwhile viewing. Performances are okay. Rating 2.5/5.

Pathetic Film !!! Better avoid it !
shaqib195 February 2023
I had never heard of this movie but when saw on Prime video I decided to give it a try seeing Hrishita Bhatt in lead role. Unfortunately, this movie turned out to be a really very bad. Poor acting, no story, pathetic direction. Not expected such pathetic film from Hrishita Bhatt. She looked beautiful but her character doesn't allow you to like her. Director knows nothing about direction. Even a Youtuber makes a better and entertaining video. It feels like watching a Doordarshan telefilm.

Aman Verma and Manoj Pahwa like veteran actors wasted in this film. Obviously the film was done purely for money. Hristisha's character can't be called a heroine . She has been shown a characterless woman who sleeps with unknown people when her split personality character Laila suddenly takes the charge. I mean she could be a psycho killer in her other personality but who wants to be a prostitute in her hidden inner personality. I didn't get this logic of director.

Every male characters are shown desirable to sleep with her whether her boss or her colleague even the police inspector who comes to rescue her . What is the logic behind such character building of the lead actress ? No kiss scene is there however a fake bed scene is there with a body double.

The hero can't even deliver dialog properly. Maybe his first and last film. The film appears too lengthy b'cos there is no story. The film runs at different plot in different scenes having no interlinking with previous one.

I had to end it by passing it fast forward bcos after a certain time the film becomes unbearable. Amazon Prime should avoid adding such waste movies in library.

A broken mind, heart and intriguing plot

Warning: Spoilers
#IshqTera. Glad to have been able to see the English version as well as the original in Hindi with English Subtitles. The plot opens with a girl traumatized by the deaths of her mother and younger brother, at the hands of her possible father. She develops a split personality. Kalpana, the timid one and Laila the bold, sexy agressor. The subject has been beautifully treated, edited and the score with Songs (as expected in all Bollywood Films) is beautifully rendered. Her lover, husband and best friend is Rahul, who re-enters her life as Kabir and with the help of friends they attempt to clear the ghosts of her past. The subject is delicate and the director and team deserve kudos for the way its been handled. A must watch because a lot of scenes resemble life and stalkers and drops subtle bombs in the form of messages that make you realise the world is not what it used to be. People do try and take advantage of your disadvantage....

Complex love, strong story, gripping
ashwinbhobeadvocates18 August 2022
A film that kept us guessing at each moment and a touching journey through the life of Kalpana, portrayed beautifully by actress Hrishitaa Bhatt. Supported well by Mohit Madaan who plays the forlorn lover, husband and friend who sticks with Kalpana and her alter ego Laila, who is the total opposite of meek kalpana. Laila is wild, sharp and aggressive besides being sexy and seeks revenge on the man who killed their mother.

Amazing songs by India's best singers - Sonu Nigam, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shreya Ghoshal and Siddarth Mahadevan (son of legend Shankar Mahadevan)

At just under 2 hours, the film is well directed and edited.

The film has Hindi and English dialogue tracks and they're both fantastic in their own ways.

Highly recommend this film.

HEARTWARMING FILM
jojodsouzagoa23 August 2022
It took me a while to watch this film. But when I did, it stirred my heart. The story opens your eyes to how a lonely woman - KALPANA - develops an alter ego to protect herself and extract her revenge on men who destroyed her happy past and played with her feelings. A single mother with a daughter who experiences the good and bad side of her conflicting behavior.

RAHUL is the man who has loved Kalpana and knows about her alter ego - LAILA.

He strives to protect her in every possible way even if means entering her life as another man.

Excellent film with strong performances and a must watch.
