It was nice to finally see a much more accurate representation of DID in the media that is working to break through stigma surrounding this disorder. Having been diagnosed with DID in 2003, I have not seen any good representations of DID until this show. I could really relate to what was being portrayed and to Jane and the rest of her system. The show addressed both some of the positives and some of the negatives to having DID, and stressed that it's a trauma disorder and very real (and not the way it's usually portrayed in media). It's really sad that despite all of this, so many people are still so closed minded to not believe DID is real or to say that Jane is faking. With the recent #MeToo movement and the campaign to end mental health stigma, this show is very timely - if only DID survivors were as believed as the rest of abuse survivors and less stigmatized as other mental illnesses. Well, I still loved the show, and am glad to finally have an easy to consume resource that I can share with friends when trying to explain my diagnosis and what it's like to live with. Thank you Jane for being so brave as to share your life and your system with us.
