I really enjoyed this show. Relatively slow pace but it fits the odd vibe of the entire show. I really enjoy the way they have mixed depressing and dark themes with straight up ridiculous and hilarious moments. The more I think about it the more I like this show. As a big fan of crime shows myself this was a really unique and refreshing point of view. Definitely recommend!

Original Storyline

This Norwegian thriller you have to stick with this as it a bit slow paced to start with.
What unfolds is an unusually original drama with some interesting dynamics.
The idea of two young female cops and their not much older female mayor boss would make an interesting basis for a series in its own right.
There are some unlikeable characters and some that paradoxically the viewer has sympathy for even though they shouldn't have.
There are quite a few loose ends that would lead into a second series, but in 2021 there is no sign of one.
Disappointingly there is some lazy writing and rather than rely on scene intensity for dramatic effect they rely on endless profanities. Even with subtitles it is jarring. It is not necessary.

Scandinavian crime with a pinch of crazyness

Warning: Spoilers
I think each episode perfectly juggles multiple issues without cunfusing the audience, and at the same time manages to keep the crime in focus. The characters evolve in a moderate tempo and there are many norwegian everyday elements in the series that an audience from the actual country or area can relate to. I really adore scandinavian crime series and movie productions in general, and did enjoy watching Kielergata with all its oddities, hints of humor, frustrations and after all calm and crazy down to earthyness. Recommend this one for those who would like to see somethink different, yet also very much typical for norwegian crime.
A standout Nordic series

I am a rabid consumer of Nordic TV, especially Swedish productions. I hadn't watched a Norwegian shows before this one, but I will definitely try more.
This show is beautifully shot, well acted, and has a great mix of menacing tension and comic relief. It looks like there won't be a Season2, and that's a damn shame.
Love love love it!

Not good... Really slow and bored

I read with surprise that someone compares this mess with the best series of the last 10 years of the Chinese detective genre Bron Broen and I do not get out of my stupor. This series is slow, with a badly basted script and a protagonist who does not get to the release of the shoes of the protagonist of Bron Broen. Pretty bad performances with a cast of actors who seem fans that make the series have little interest
Strange show

...watched 70% of it, just so slow and often lacked credibility I couldn't stick with it, and the CGI snow? No one looked a bit cold lol.
The cat thread went on and on, and Sofia was an incredibly irritating character, I could barely watch her.
Really only watched as much as I did as Jonas was well played and interesting. Fargo? Umm...no, i dont think so. The cops were just excruciating to watch, there was no wit nor appeal in any word either of them uttered.
