Spend hours of your time learning and being fascinated by something you didn't know you cared about
I stumbled across this page and saw it didn't have any reviews yet, so have mine. Grigonis delivers a thoughtful, precise and impartial review of the life of 'Chris Chan' with great editing and an overall feeling of care put into the work. Whilst other videos dealing with the same subject matter have circled around, nothing compares to the deep dive Gringonis takes you on as he explores the trails and tribulations of the internets Truman. Time flies by through the episodes, and I find myself disapointed when I finish the lastest and have to wait for the next one.

One of the best documentaries I've watched, period.

One day...

In a hundred years, people will use this as a benchmark. They'll praise something by saying it is "A 22nd Century Chris Chan: A Comprehensive History". And we were there. Were like those guys who picked up Einstein's book on release day or whatever. We're the guys who picked up Beethoven's CD the day he dropped it.

A serious achievement

Given the almost impossible task of compiling every event in Chris-Chans life, GenoSamuel delivers a professional level documentary rivaling those you could watch on Netflix.

And it's completely free.

Chris Chan is arguably the most interesting man alive, and "Chris Chan: A Comprehensive History" highlights everything that makes his story so special, for good and for bad.

A modern classic of out time!
alexthompson-6564920 November 2018
Never has a documentary dug so deep as Chris Chan: A Comprehensive History. It not only shows his journey into disillusionment, but his quest to find a "boyfriend free girl" as well. This series is a treat for the whole family and will be a classic for years to come!

10/10 Would make Billy Mays the Mayer of CwCville

The 21st Century Benjy Compson

Chris-Chan is the exact polar opposite of Life, Animated's Owen Suskind: instead of using Disney films to communicate with the world and overcoming obstacles, CWC uses Pokémon, Sonic and other media just to get laid with a "boyfriend-free girl". Even as an autistic myself, he is the worst example.

I'm at a loss for words but it is extremely compelling

I'm at a loss for words but it is extremely compelling. I really don't know what to make of this year except to say that it pulls off what few documentaries do. It's never boring and seems to be painstakingly factual. The subject matter is just well again, words fall short. I guess you would call this a tragic story of Internet fame/infamy. Bingeworthy.

What keeps us fascinated?
cblacky-9390226 September 2020
Chris Chan AKA Christian Weston Chandler, the most documented man in YouTube history, is presented to the audience, from childhood to modern day. This may sound like an all to common documentary. This ongoing series by Geno Samuel on YT is anything close to such. It's shocking, disturbing, saddening, and even at times rather humorous "perhaps unintentional" by the narrators ability to maintain himself while reading off the typed posts and emails of Chris Chan. It initially dives into Chris's early childhood, his creation of Sonichu "the fictional non canon electric Pokémon meant to be a mix of Sonic the Hedgehog and Pokémon's Pikachu." and of course, his eventual attempts of finding a "boyfriend-free-girl". This leads to what has likely been the most massive ongoing troll job to this very day. Dive in to the first episode, and witness the decline of the self proclaimed high functioning autistic man, as you see virtually every aspect of his life through his texts, emails, drawings, and phone recordings. If you're like me, and so many others, you'll eventually ask yourself, much like Geno Samuel asks the audience in the into: "What keeps us fascinated?"

The Deepest Rabbithole of All Time

I signed up for IMDB purely to review this awesome documentary series. The amount of information Geno Samurai must have had to sift through to create this series is unbelievable. Undeniably the best documentary on one of the most documented people in history.

The greatest documentary on an internet phenomenon
gareth-w-owen8 September 2019
When the history of meme culture in the 2010s is written, the name Christian Weston Chandler will be wrought large throughout it. Despite the fact that he's one of the most trolled people in the history of the internet, he has nevertheless in a peverse way achieved his dream of making his Sonic rip-off, Sonichu a true phenomenon and has created the multimedia franchise he believed he could... just not how he pictured it. His effect on the Sonic fanbase has been profound.

This documentary by GenoSamuel is the definitive work on the Chris-Chan saga. An epic 22-part (at the time of writing) series of hour-long documentaries, taking you from the first moments of Chris-Chan's life right up to the present day, the effort which has gone into this is nothing short of superhuman. So much material has been produced by Chris and his, uh... fans, so it's hard for most mere mortals to keep up with it all and digest it. GenoSamuel has managed to condense it all into a highly watchable and entertaining series, and if anyone ever asks me what the Chris-Chan thing is all about, this is where I will send them.

I look forward to seeing what other documentaries will come from this talented producer.

Quite possibly one of the best documentary on Youtube
DomiWood18 July 2020
This documentary truly surpassed my expectations, the amount of time and effort put into making it. This documentary is full of small details instead of telling whole story in few episodes which makes it very interesting and admirable.

Can't wait to see how this story will go on, but for now it stands on absolute top of these days documentaries.

10/10.

We all get to benefit from Geno's hard work on this. He is such a remarkable talent, with an obsessive work ethic. He also does a remarkable job in simply telling the story, and avoiding being biased.

The documentary in its entirety is almost 40 hours and I wasn't able to put it down. The level of extreme detail and the absurdity of the situation never ceased to amaze me.

The definitive history of the phenomenon
gareth-w-owen22 February 2020
Chris Chan is one of the greatest memes of the late 2000s-early 2010s, a true phenomenon of the era. Given the huge amount of material that Chris and his "fans" produced at the time, it can be hard to get into for newcomers but this series demystifies it for newcomers.

GenoSamuel's skill as a filmmaker shows here, weaving together all the most important parts of the Chris Chan saga with an engaging but yet neutral and dispassionate narration. To be able to sit through and extract the highlights of all of Chris's material is a superhuman achievement.

When this comes to an end, it will stand as the definitive work on Chris Chan.

A Masterpiece
awestbrooks24 February 2019
Chis Chan a comprehensive history is a documentary serise by musician Geno Samuel that documents the life of famous internet personality Christian (Christine) Weston Chandler. Creator of Sonichu the eletric hedgehog Pokemon. Christian is a high functioning autistic man who lives with his parents and is mostly seen in his toy filled bedroom when staring in videos addressing internet bullies (troll) who torment him by pretending to be women who want to date him and video game developers who want to make the Sonichu franchise into a video game serise. Christian has been the victim of a war since the industrial revelution and has been through so many things in his complicated life that he is quite possibly the most documented person in modern history. Geno Samuel's documentary is chock filled with information about Christian and his life. If you have heard about, or if your hearing about him for the first time this is defiantly a must watch. Also as of Febuary 24, 2019 Geno has remasterd part 1 and will be continuing the serise from part 1 and onward.

An impressive dive that distinguishes itself
Powerofyourmind19 November 2019
A fascinating dive into the world of a man who uses his autism as a crutch and his obsession to get a "boyfriend-free-girl", allowing the real world to pass him by as he stays in a fantasy.

The script and research done for this documentary series is impressive, and much more documented and reliable than most exposé's. The most interesting events noted and looked into in each part are probably the most notable thing that sets the series apart.

While the script is good, the narration by GenoSamuel isn't the best you can get. I found that every time he started to talk, his enthusiasm just wasn't there. I'm not sure if this is because of the setting he chose to give the doc, or he just normally dictates like that, but if I personally wasn't lured in by the well done nature of everything else, I believe I'd just have no interest.

Overall...a 9/10 series that could be a tad improved.

An amazing blend of internet history and documentarism
jtsjohn20 April 2022
GenoSamuel manages to create a compelling narrative about a small internet phenomenon through the use of audio and textual passages. While this format has been tried many times before, GenoSamuel mixes these elements masterfully. He also manages to give the absurd content of Christory the appropriate amount of weight; not too LARPy, but not also trivializing the story. He accurately presents a narrative of tragedy based around the character of Christian Weston Chandler.

What made him this way?
dinglebarrybutts19 September 2021
Or "what made her this way" when you reach the very moment Chris comes out as a female. However, because of the circumstances of his situations, I will only refer to him as he, and as Chris.

This documentary is the most objective, neutral, and easy-to-digest documentaries I've ever seen on YouTube. It's not even finished yet, but as of writing this review, there is currently a half a year hiatus because of the situation you probably already heard of that went down last month. If you don't know what it is, you can either wait until the documentary reaches that part, or just look it up. It's probably the most ridiculous and horrifying parts of Chris' life thus far.

The documentary is extremely in-depth, while also being accessible to pretty much everybody. Geno describes and defines everything to anyone that might not know what it is, even if some of it are things that everyone knows (like Netflix.) It goes through every saga, every scenario, every situation, tiny and huge. Geno reads out texts with a sense of comedy by yelling every CAPITALIZED WORD that Chris writes. He also likes to point out things to add more comedic value. The music score is also fitting for every scene.

There's not much else I can say without spoiling anything with Chris and his wacky life, but you should definitely watch the documentary if you have the chance to spend a few days looking at all 59 parts (as of the writing of this review.)

Never a dull moment
MitchMovies6314 September 2022
I was hoping to see a behind the music type documentary about my favourite band Chris Chan and the Hedgehog boys. But I found this instead. It's a story of Chris Chan living the good life. He travels to Cleveland Ohio, plays the lottery and even has a few drinks. Follow Ian Brandon Anderson on a wild ride through all the slanderous trolls and life as a virgin woth RAGE. Also meet Snorlax, Lumber Jack Bob Chandler, Dastardly Clyde Cash, JULIE, Surf Shack Tito and of course the one true Christian Western Chandler Liquid Chris. As Ian Brandon Anderson wades through life as a high functioning autistic male on a love quest.

A doccumentory on the anomoaly of our species
Bundle_Exists7 December 2022
Before 2022, I had only heard of chris a few times, once in a youtubers video, and another in the July 2021 ordeal. Which that exact ordeal is what lead me the become fascinated months later, where I stumbled across a video discussing him, which mentioned this doccumentory.

I have spent hours watching this series, because it is not just informative, but everything it could ever be, thanks to chrischan. It can be hilarious in seeing chris' antics, depressing in seeing how he has made his life, infuriating in how he sees the world and others, duisgust at how he behaves and what he does, and confusing in finding his logic.

Id happily spend hours learning about Christian all over again.
