Storyline

- TriviaWhen Eli takes his first stroll (from his new Damascus apartment) through the local marketplace, there is a brief scene of a vegetable merchant sorting through a pile of green beans. Affixed on the wall behind him appear to be cutouts from women's undergarment ads, but featuring the head of a smiling man. These are images of Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser, who for a time presided over the United Arab Republic, of which Syria was a member state (effectively giving up their sovereignty to Nasser). The union of Syria with Egypt ultimately proved to be a bitter disappointment, as the Egyptians tended to treat the Syrians as subordinates (tensions rose even further when drought damaged Syria's economy). In September 1961, a coup led by Syrian army officers reestablished Syria as an independent state. Given that this episode takes place in 1962, it would seem fitting for Nasser's unpopular image to be mocked in this way (Eli also refers to Nasser no longer having influence over Syria in his initial conversation on the boat with Majid Al-Ard).
- GoofsIn this and other episodes, in the Damascus scenes, a lot of men can be seen wearing fez. Fez were worn in Morocco and, to a lesser extent, Algeria and Tunisia, but never in the Middle East.
- Quotes
Sheik Majid Al Ard: Since you are risking my neck as well as yours, I think I deserve to know why didn't you want them looking through your things.
Eli Cohen: I am a single man, and I have needs. And I have some extremely graphic pornography in my suitcase.

Interesting but too cliche
The story is interesting. The acting is fine.
The settings are great and feel authentic from the 60's in the Middle East region.
But the story is too rushed and thus becomes cliche.
Unlike other Netflix series, there is not enough build up for the characters and events, things just move forward too quickly, so the plot feels too unreal and artificial.
But there are some very touching moments, like the eating of the butter sandwich scene, when we see the Eli and Nadya miss each other or when Dan remembers the previous agent he worked with.
Worth watching.
