Learn more- Christmas Crashers tells the tale of Skip and Melinda Bartlett, two suburban sweethearts, who while they love Christmas, and each other, never seem to make time for both. No matter how hard they try, friends, family, worries and work always manage to get in the way.
Well, one night, as Melinda attempts to assemble a scrapbook, the truth of their "separate" situation becomes evident on the decorative page. As she flips through a stack of pictures, she discovers there are ones of her... and ones of Skip... but none of the two of them together. None. So, this year, she decides, things are going to be different. All she wants is for the two of them to spend Christmas alone. No parents, no parties, no presents... just the peace and quiet of holiday harmony.
It takes a little convincing, but after Melinda roasts Skip's nuts on the marriage fire (and several of his garments in a real fire), he finally comes around. He calls his meddling mother, cancels his Santa-shift with the underprivileged children and takes a trip to the mall for some merriment with the Mrs.
Then the storm hits.
A shaken-snow-globe of white stuff descends on the Midwest and holiday travel comes to a grinding halt. Every flight barreling through the Bible Belt is forced to find a runway in the Windy City.
No problem.
That's exactly what Skip and Melinda wanted anyway. So, they settle in for the evening and are about to commence with some Christmas lovemaking when...
The phone rings.
It's Brooke Hunter, soon-to-be supermodel and Skip's ex-sugar cookie. On her way to Hawaii to do a big calendar shoot, she and her fantastico photographer, Ricardo, got caught in the storm and are now stuck in the "Uglyville" airport (Chicago). Fearing for her face, and finding no accommodations (not even for a model), she needs a place to stay until the blizzard blows over.
Skip, stuck in the middle between a simmering spouse and a sexy ex, opts to open his house for a model in need. He picks them up at the airport, brings them home and immediately, inexplicably, Melinda's Christmas tune changes. Skip suspects something's up with her and the Latin lover-boy and soon discovers...
There are now TWO ex-es in his house!
And, as if the imminent battle of the ex-es wasn't enough...
DING DONG!
Here comes Skip's mom, who despite being asked to stay home, just can't bear the thought of sharing her little Skipper with anyone, especially "Melanie," during this most precious time of year.
So, it's Christmas Eve and the stage is set. Holiday hell has broken loose in the house. A spirited game of Trivial Pursuit and an air-clearing argument later, Skip sits on the end of his bed with an empty scrapbook page and a pissed and passed-out wife. Somehow, he's got to make this right. But how? Has Skip already sh*t in his Christmas stocking or will he finally figure out, once and for all, what this holiday is really all about?
