In the first heat four food producers with fledgling businesses test their products on the locals in Malhamdale in the Yorkshire Dales. The makers of preserves, pickles and spreads compete for a place in the final.
In the second heat it is cheese-makers competing for a place in the final. Goat's cheeses, smoked cheese and cheddar cheese are among the products to be judged.
This time it is sweet-makers competing in the third heat of the contest. Homemade chocolate bars, cocktail flavoured marshmallows, chocolate liquors and truffles and traditional Scottish tablet are judged.
The fourth heat pits makers of cooking sauces against each other. Homemade hot sauce, salted caramel sauce, a healthier curry sauce and a unique 'paella in a bottle' are on show.
In this edition four meat producers fight it out for a place in the final. Home cured bacon flavoured with fennel, treacle and ale, venison bresaola, biltong and chicken liver parfait are the products to be judged.
In the penultimate heat, four drinks producers compete for a place in the final. A cold brew coffee, an unusual cordial, a fermented tea and a baobab smoothie are tested.
The final heat sees makers of baked goods compete. Phoebe makes free-from chocolate brownies. Bavarian-born Angelika makes pretzels. Mike makes traditional sourdough. Utako makes Japanese breads.
All 7 heat winners compete in the grand final. First their produce will go on sale in the shop but without them there to promote it. They then return to the shop to host a farmers market.
