This is very much the reverse All in the Family. Some of the jokes from the first episodes might as well date from the 1970s.
The Johnson's are a white family that have moved from Michigan to Los Angeles. Dave (Max Greenfield) works in conflict resolution and Gemma's (Beth Behrs) got a new job in a progressive high school.
With their son Grover, they have moved into an all black neighbourhood.
Calvin Butler (Cedric the Entertainer) is not happy with the new neighbours. Thinking they are bound to be racist either way. Liking black people too much or not liking them at all. Whatever does Dave is bound to lose.
His wife Tina (Tichina Arnold) invites them to their barbecue. Where the Johnson's could meet the other neighbours and their two sons Malcolm and Marty.
There were gags but it was weak. Why would a black man think that Johnson would be the surname of a respectable black family. Never heard of Lyndon B Johnson?
It does have an interesting premise which might be explored in future episodes. Such as gentrification of black neighbourhoods. It will need to up the humour and not rely on tired tropes.
