Fantastic

Finally, after some really boring seasons this is keeping me on the edge of my seat! It's not perfect, nothing is, but DAMN this gets my blood pumping

And I think this is the first episode that Carry is not crying, so it's a really good episode.

Very Enterrtaining

You really must suspend disbelief. The president would never be so unprotected in a war zone with no QRF or air power close by, and forces would try to take the high ground instead of ceding it to the Taliban. Plus the entire season twist is very easy to see.

Taking all that into consideration, it's very entertaining as was the previous episode.

Very suspenseful but very unrealistic

Warning: Spoilers
Edge of your seat and one of the more entertaining episodes of the series but pretty ridiculous suspension of disbelief. As others have stated:

-Small infantry unit at the outpost are portrayed as completely undisciplined and unskilled amateurs.

-President would NEVER, NEVER travel in just 2 unescorted Blackhawks without drones, Apache's, large Special Forces quick reaction force nearby,...ect. A scenario the writers should know is an impossible bridge to far.

-Apache's or a C-130, just like the drone they're getting footage from could and would give those trapped air support. It would be danger close fire but they would easily pick off the enemy fighters. Just watch the dozens of YouTube videos of Apache's engaging with their FLIR optics. (Bad guys can't hide, even in tree line).

-The Vice President being so weak and indecisive was a little much. Come on. No one that makes it to that position is that ill prepared and shakey. All common sense stuff.

Feeling the military has been insulted

Warning: Spoilers
The last few episodes left me hurt seeing Special Forces soldiers behaving like high school kids and seeing Spec fours soldiers in their ranks when the minimum rank is Sergeant.

This episode pushed me over the edge within the first 10 minutes seeing the President in a war zone, at a critical forward base that also is there for intelligence collection somehow travelling with just a small unit of security and no additional security forces and no quick reaction force and no added back within a Taliban controlled area.

Then when something does happen the QRF is over an hour away?

I know I should just take it as it is but is this part of their plan to take a show that was semi-realistic and get folks so pissed that they will stop watching it?

That is my two cents. Just my personal impression that I had to vent.

It's A TV Show!

I love this programme! I love the twists and turns and the crazy plots. That's why most people watch these shows.

Then there are those who sit down with a note pad and pen to start writing down a list of "this wildness happen in real life!"

Ok. Thanks.

This isn't real life! And if a (fictitious) president goes with only a few soldiers, then that's fine. I'm sure from a security stand point the real Secret Service or whoever would not be entirely happy with 100% accuracy on real life procedures.

This show is on the air side by side with Superman flying into space, X-Men mutants running around and the Millenium Falcon doing the Kessel run in an unbelievably short time (Han fired first!!)

Anyway, I'm going back to rewatch that episode as I don't think the third agent from the left had his middle finger positioned correctly on his gun and the tyres on the black hawk were 2003 models which were discontinued in 2009 after the full moon of the last Thursday of April.

Conspiracies Abound
raymondfrancis197816 March 2020
I don't think it has Haqqani but his son, I don't think they are Taliban but ISI, due to the fact they had support from ISI in both intelligence, training and weapons to take on a USMC Platoon, plus why didn't they have any clue they were up there such as an MQ9 to observe the mountain, I also don't think it was that easy for the Helo to be shot down with any RPG and Taliban don't have the capabilities to shoot down a Blackhawk that's retrograded with avionics that also gives out Very Ultra High Frequency comms and low frequency radar signature, I don't think the Vice President is as kosher as he plays out to be and definitely had a hand in this! Stay Tuned folks to see if I'm right !

Chalk Two Down

Warning: Spoilers
Definitely an exciting episode. Did they trade substance and story for nonsensical violence? A bit, but the way this season has gone we needed that break for sure. One we'll remember with a cliffhanger that will keep us counting the days until the next episode.

Really good episode. I get that the writing can be pretty unrealistic and silly at times but despite this, the pacing was finally fast and the plot really gets moving. A lot happened in this episode and there was a lot of tension and severe implications for future episodes. The cliffhanger was a bit unnecessary and forced but otherwise there were some really excellent sequences in there. There are a lot of questions going into the rest of the series.

Disbelief but exciting !

Warning: Spoilers
Just wanted to add that if it's a choice of bomb the site destroying the president's body, why can't they retreat and take his body with them ? Looks like they want the evidence destroyed . Plus the vice president isn't even sworn in yet ! Otherwise an exciting episode with whodunnit overtures .

Wow, was this show always this bad?
conjh13-130 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Did I just not notice it before? This season it has completely abandoned plausibility and gone full-blown fantasy.

Do you know why we've never had a US president die anything remotely like this? Because the US does not put its presidents in such insane, absurd, mindbogglingly dangerous situations. Flying a president into an active terrorist warzone is bad enough by itself; that alone pushes the boundary of plausible fiction. But then to put the president on something as fragile as a helicopter is completely unthinkable. And then to have only ONE other helicopter for protection, with no other air cover, and THEN that helicopter isn't even watching the president's helicopter. And this is right after a LIVE worldwide broadcast, that anyone could've watched and easily identified the base the president was at. I mean, my gosh, how on earth do you turn off your brain enough to find ANY of that believable??

And that's just the start of it. This show has become unwatchable. I find it impossible to care about any of the characters any more, as all of it has become one big joke.

Please stop!!!!
solomonp8109 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
You can be a little bit unrealistic as you're a show on television. But stop. You're so spot on with different perspectives of politics and terrorism, only to be so off with our military strategies and tactics.... there is NO way anyone could shoot down the presidents plane... secondly, if there was, there is no way in hell that there wouldn't be endless personnel all over the site.

You're making our military look very bad. Please stop.

Honor our soldiers!!
mecong-378-29270111 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The way our soldiers, the army, the Rangers are presented here, is disgusting! People gave their lives on the battlefield to be portrayed like this? Shame on you!!! We are talking the President here. Everyone of us would give everything to protect the Commander in Chief. QRF ONE HOUR!!! Away? Disintegrate the body of our Commander with still one man standing? Those Taliban half out in the open like on a shooting range? The guys have no grenades at hand? Rangers? Not one good shot? No machine gun in the whole squad when they clearly had one before in the river bed? No attempt at flanking the Taliban? They all huddle in the line of fire? Coming out of cover while reloading? Not using the Helicopter as cover or the weapons onboard the Heli? A Hollywood disgrace-once again. Our folks deserve better! All I am saying.

And I can't stand Danes anymore. She is so far out of her league, acting-wise, and no-one like her would even come close to a position similar to the one she has in this series. NEVER! Lives depend on her silly emotions. No way! And always the same expression, the one face of crazy (she seems to only have one technique for her eyes and eyebrows!) and a quivering chin. But that's ok, I keep jumping over it, but the soldiers - that's not fair.
